Sr. Analyst - Analytics and Insights

OVERVIEW

Instacart’s Analytics & Insights Team sits within Business Development, at the intersection of Instacart’s unparalleled grocery industry data and our most important grocery retail partners. Our grocery partnerships are at the core of our business, and this role is focused on leveraging data and analytics to influence business decision making, understand customer behavior, and drive growth of key company goals.

This Senior Analyst will strive to understand the dynamics of the marketplace through descriptive analysis, supporting the team in tackling ambiguous problems using data, and providing the both internal and external teams with the tools to answer “how did the business perform?” and “why did it perform that way?” You will be a subject matter expert on Instacart’s data and tools in order to efficiently answer key business questions and build sustainable solutions to enable stakeholders to progressively answer more and more of these questions on their own.

• Support Instacart’s largest retail partners in helping them make data-driven decisions
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand their business and develop analysis, dashboards, and reporting to address their needs
• Support internal teams with data that will help them best serve their accounts and strengthen the partnership across several key areas:
• Identify opportunities for optimization and growth through the analysis of performance relative to peer benchmarks
• Develop data-driven business cases to help expand Instacart’s retail partnerships
• Monitor operational performance to ensure consistently excellent service for Instacart’s end customers
• Help prepare for weekly, monthly and quarterly business reviews
• Become a subject matter expert in Instacart’s data and tools:
• Immerse yourself in Instacart’s vast database and extract relevant datasets using SQL
• Develop low-touch, self-serve reporting for both internal and external teams
• Understand the data needs of both internal and external teams and, where appropriate, get those requirements on the roadmap for the scalable solutions being developed by other people on our team

ABOUT YOU

• 3+ years work experience in a quantitative role. This is a great opportunity for those with experience in Consulting, Banking, Analytics, or similar roles. Experience with retail and e-commerce is a plus
• Advanced SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools experience required
• Flexible and adaptable; collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their goals and tailor your approach accordingly
• Resourceful; ability to find answers to tough questions (especially data-related) by tracking down the right data and stakeholders
• Thinking sustainably and building for scale; develop long-term solutions to recurring problems
• Strong analytical skills; ability to logically break down complex problems and identify potential pitfalls
• Ability to effectively manage multiple key stakeholder relationships, both internal and external, and provide guidance on more efficient approaches as needed
