Job Summary

As a Sr. Data Engineer on the Hedging IT team, you will lead the team’s data modeling, data integration, and data architecture/design supporting current and future data solutions.  You will work independently, with your technical peers, and in partnership with our business stakeholders to design, build, grow, and support every aspect of our hedging data platform. You are a well-rounded and experienced IT professional, comfortable working on a full-stack Dev/Sec/Ops team, capable and eager to pitch-in and push a project over the finish-line.  While your core focus will be in the data domain, you will also be called upon to deliver technical/software solutions outside the data domain.

The Sr. Data Engineer is an IT professional who primarily creates and manages data systems and solutions. Sr. Data Engineers are responsible for designing data integration processes, developing data models, ensuring data solutions are well-managed and of the highest quality. the Sr. Data Engineer also leads technical and analytical projects focused on continuously improving and modernizing all our hedging data solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Independently identify, solve, and fix data problems to reduce data storage, improve data pipeline throughput, and remedy data quality problems
  • Design and deliver data modeling, data integration, and data architecture solutions
  • Deliver and support all aspects of data management functions including creating, loading, transforming, cleansing, processing, analyzing, and visualizing data
  • Collaborate directly with teammates and business partners to build, optimize, and support reusable, scalable, performant, and maintainable data
  • Work with multiple development technologies and platforms including SQL, Informatica, Snowflake, JAMS, GITHub, Azure, APIs, .NET, SSIS, Stored procedures
  • Interact cross-functionally with other technical teams both internally and externally to implement optimal technology solutions
  • Design and develop solutions supporting current-state and future-stat architectures
  • Follow all best-practices of Dev/Sec/Ops and ITIL service management in a Lean/Agile environment.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Associate’s/Bachelor's Degree (preferred emphasis in technology, engineering or math related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • 4-7 years of proven, practical experience designing, building, and supporting  a variety of solutions within the data domain.
  • Proven ability to write SQL queries and interpret data models
  • Expert experience with MS-SQL Server
  • Expert experience building data models, data-heavy solutions, and data products
  • Experience writing automated unit, integration, and acceptance tests for data interfaces & data pipelines
  • Experience with object-oriented design and development.

Preferred Requirements

  • Expert experience building data pipelines and interfaces with object-oriented languages (.Net, Java, Python)
  • Working knowledge of Informatica Data Quality, Business Glossary, Metadata Manager
  • Experience with database design/modeling tools
  • Experience within a Financial Services/Insurer’s IT Organization
