Job Description
Personalis, Inc. is a leader in advanced cancer genomics for enabling the next generation of precision cancer therapies and diagnostics. The Personalis NeXT Platform® is designed to adapt to the complex and evolving understanding of cancer, providing its biopharmaceutical customers and clinicians with information on all of the approximately 20,000 human genes, together with the immune system, from a single tissue sample. In population sequencing, Personalis operates one of the largest sequencing operations globally and is currently the sole sequencing provider to Veterans Affairs' Million Veteran Program. To enable cancer and population sequencing, Personalis' Clinical Laboratory was built with a focus on clinical accuracy, quality, big data, scale and efficiency. The laboratory is GxP-aligned as well as Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988-certified and College of American Pathologists-accredited.
Summary: Personalis is building its position as a leader in precision oncology and is seeking a Senior Director of BioPharma and HCP Marketing to assume a key commercial leadership role. This team leader will own the strategic direction and tactical implementation of product marketing activities across the business, including tumor profiling and MRD. The Senior Director will be responsible for a multitude of global and regional marketing activities aimed at building awareness and driving demand for the full portfolio of Personalis products across both BioPharma and HCP customer segments. This position will own a broad spectrum of downstream marketing activities including marketing strategy, branding, product positioning, messaging, lead generation, website management, creative development, asset development, campaign activation, and multi-channel marketing. This leader will build and scale a best-in-class team of marketers to support commercial growth objectives as the business continues to expand.
Responsibilities:
- Establish a high-impact go-to-market strategy and tactical marketing plan that competitively positions the company for commercial success
- Build global awareness and drive demand for full portfolio of Personalis products across both BioPharma and HCP customer segments, for all current and pipeline products
- Lead all commercial launches, product branding, product messaging, promotional marketing campaigns, marketing asset development, lead generation, website and social media management, and marketing analytics
- Hire, develop, manage, and motivate a high-performing team of marketers by building effective processes and a collaborative culture
- Cultivate a strong partnership with Sales, Product Management, KOL Marketing, Medical Affairs, Field Application Specialists, and R&D to contribute to corporate goals and objectives
- Develop a strong understanding of customers across BioPharma and HCP segments, including providers, delegates, and patients, to create effective value propositions and key messages to drive product adoption
- Build and maintain business processes and tools over time, including MLR review, document management, and commercial excellence reviews
- Actively manage the marketing agency relationship and deliverables, ensuring a cost effective approach that is aligned with commercial goals and objectives
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, life sciences, or related field
- MBA or advanced degree in Life Sciences (or 2 years of experience in lieu of Master’s degree)
- 10+ years of proven experience in marketing roles of increasing scope and responsibility in the genomics, molecular biology, or molecular diagnostics arenas
- Direct NGS and/ or molecular diagnostics experience highly preferred
- Ideal experience marketing to both research products to BioPharma and clinical products to clinicians/ providers
- Demonstrated leadership capability and experience managing and growing a team
- Strong creative intuition on design and messaging that resonates with customers, ability to execute plans with attention to detail, and an ability to learn from previous campaigns to improve on performance
- Ability to develop and present strategy and marketing plans. Communicates in a compelling manner that captures and holds others’ attention
- Demonstrated track record of partnering well with internal peers and external vendors
- Proven ability to thrive and be successful in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to travel up to 20% (when safe to do so)
