The role:
SoFi is searching for a Senior Director of Financial Reporting with financial services expertise to lead the Company’s Financial Reporting function.
The Sr Director of Financial Reporting will be responsible for managing all SEC reporting, filings and related analysis to ensure the accurate reporting of financial data in accordance with U.S. GAAP. This individual will work closely with the finance, legal, investor relations and executive teams to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and provide accurate and transparent financial information to stakeholders, including shareholders, analysts, and the general public.
Your expertise in SEC Reporting and your deep understanding of GAAP and related reporting requirements will be instrumental in guiding our organization through complex financial matters and ensuring adherence to reporting standards. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, executives, and external auditors to maintain the highest level of financial integrity and provide valuable insights to support key decision-making processes.
This position will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and will be a member of the Controllership Leadership Team.
The right person will have leadership experience in financial services, bring a strong point of view as a key member of the Controllership Leadership Team and contribute to our strategic vision and tactical execution to enhance the team's performance. The Sr Director of Financial Reporting will also have strong experience in scaling people, processes, and systems in a high growth environment while establishing best-in-class processes and practices.
What you’ll do:Â
Lead, prepare and review quarterly and annual financial reports (10-Q, 10-K) for filing with the SEC, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
Manage the timely and accurate preparation of other SEC filings, including Form 8-K, proxy statements in collaboration with HR and Legal, and registration statements.
Assist in the preparation of earnings releases, investor presentations, and other external communications to ensure consistency and accuracy of financial information.
Prepare and present at the disclosure and audit committees on a quarterly basis.
Key contributor to the ESG working group.
Partner with the Accounting Policy team to monitor, evaluate, and implement developments and changes in SEC regulations, accounting standards, and reporting requirements, and ensure the company's filings are in compliance.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the finance, legal, and investor relations teams, to gather and analyze financial data, supporting schedules, and disclosures for SEC filings.
Ensure compliance with SEC regulations and GAAP accounting, including XBRL reporting and the disclosure checklist.
Ensure internal controls over financial reporting, SOX compliance, including disclosure controls and procedures, are adequate and operating effectively.
Continue to streamline, improve and further automate the SEC reporting process
Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the timely completion of quarterly and annual audits.
Partner with the Investor Relations team as needed with investor engagement activities, including preparation materials for key investor quarterly reporting.
Participate in special projects, improve processes and assist with documentation and compliance with SOX.
What you’ll need:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA designation.
10 plus years of relevant work experience; 5+ years SEC reporting experience; public company experience, public accounting experience (Big 4 required)
Strong knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and SEC regulations
Expertise in preparing and reviewing SEC filings, including 10-Q, 10-K, and other required reports.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret and present complex financial data and disclosures to executive leadership and committees.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Strong leadership experience, communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and executive management
Strong command of SEC reporting standards and requirements, as well as experience with technical research and XBRL tagging
Extensive experience with financial reporting systems and SEC filing software, such as Workiva, Snowflake and Tableau, to automate as much of the SEC reporting process as possible
Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills working with a variety of stakeholders at different levels across various departments
Possess superior planning, organizational and documentation skills, attention to detail, strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external professionals at all levels
Proactive approach to problem identification and collaborative solutions, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact and build relationships across all levels of the organization
