What You'll Be Doing in the role of Sr. Specialist - Individual Giving
The Sr. Specialist, Individual Giving serves as a member of the National Major Gifts fundraising team for Susan G. Komen. This position will be responsible for the stewardship and cultivation of a comprehensive mid-level donor portfolio with a focus on growth and retention. You will manage a portfolio of pre-selected donors by initiating, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with those individuals who support Susan G. Komen. Your priority will be providing a valued and authentic experience via telephone, email, and mail with the goal of providing donors with a meaningful relationship that enhances their connection to Komen. You will also seek to understand donors giving interests, intentions for their gifts, and to document everything learned.
This position will report to the National Director, Major Gifts & Planned Giving and is a fully remote role.
What You Will Bring to the Table
- Implement the prescribed mid-level stewardship and cultivation plan for a pre-selected portfolio of donors giving primarily through direct mail and digital programs.
- Utilize prescribed tools, tactics, and intensive accountability to fast-track donor engagement, resulting in increased retention and increased giving YOY.
- Cultivate and grow revenue in a large pre-selected portfolio of mid-level donors ($1,000-$5,000+ giving range). There will be revenue and retention goals for the portfolio, and clearly defined metrics to meet or exceed daily.
- Based on a defined contact method and cadence, the Specialist will reach each donor a minimum of once per quarter through intentional Moves Management and specific touchpoints. This program requires excellent phone skills and has a high outbound call volume daily.
- Execute prompt and effective stewardship for every gift in the portfolio.
- Qualify donors in the mid-level portfolio. Work to upgrade donors in the portfolio.
- Work in collaboration with Sr. Manager and National Director on identifying and cultivating potential major gift prospects in the mid-level portfolio.
- Ensure Salesforce is kept up to date on all moves and donor interactions.
- Perform unassigned donor stewardship for gifts as delegated in the National Stewardship Program.
- Oversee Promise Society recognition, as assigned once the program launches.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Susan G. Komen mission and programs to promote national fundraising initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
We Already Know You Will Also Have
- Bachelor's degree and successful work history in a field where successful relationship development is a key metric for success. Someone who holds a CFRE with no degree is eligible to apply.
- Excellent organization, time management, and detail-orientation skills are required to manage donor caseload and document relationship status and updates.
- Intrinsically motivated, able to work autonomously in a remote environment
- Ability to analyze and integrate information from relevant sources.
- Strong ability to listen compassionately and probe effectively to establish a good rapport with donors.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including relationship building and communication in-person, on video, over the phone, and via email with diverse groups of people with tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Outcome driven with ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities.
- Remains composed under stress, handles responses to criticism tactfully and delivers on organizational commitments.
- Possess in-depth knowledge about donor databases, preferably Salesforce.
- Strong technical skills and comfort utilizing Outlook, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Teams. Knowledge of Salesforce, Asana, Gravyty, FreeWill, and other platforms a plus.
- Models and fosters behavior that is consistent with the beliefs, values, goals, and objectives of Susan G. Komen.
