Staff Cloud Automation Engineer

IEX Cloud is hiring a Staff Cloud Automation Engineer on the platform team to support our growing organization. We are looking for an inspired engineer who has experience scaling support for development teams through CI/CD, automation, and internal tooling enabling them to deliver with confidence.

You intuitively know how to balance priorities between technical mentorship and hands-on work. You believe unblocking developers and providing the tools to ship high-quality code quickly and reliably is a top priority. Infrastructure as Code is not just a solution but the only solution.

You are not afraid of rolling up your sleeves and driving projects forward at full speed. You enjoy being part of a motivated team who push each other to win every day, together. You probably think the world is a better place when there is readily available beer, cold brew, and seltzer on tap, though not a requirement.

Technical Contributions

• You will participate in building code delivery mechanisms for our developers and ensure the health and stability of our platform both now and in the future.
• Measure, measure, and measure to inform decision making around high priority areas of improvement and KPIs such as Time to Deliver, Mean Time to Recovery, etc.
• Contribute a strong point of view on common software engineering concerns, including how to improve user experience; how to manage technical debt; and how to improve performance.
• Build tools that enable developers to manage their code, infrastructure and data to independently move fast without breaking things.

Collaboration within a Product Team:

• Collaborate cross functionally with development, product management, marketing and customer success to understand the user needs and requirements to succeed in our market.
• Ability to translate broad company strategies into clear, specific objectives and actionable plans, building passion and buy-in across teams
• Collaborate with product and your team in each 6-week planning period to agree on priorities and scope of work that can be delivered to ensure we're working on the right things and with committed scope
• Participate in our product discovery programs to engage directly with users and buyers of our technology to understand unmet needs and potential opportunity space
• Inspire teammates to understand the problems we are trying to solve rather than just solutions

Delivery Management:

• Understand product requirements, design technical solutions, and help the team ship a great product internal and external.
• Deliver against business and product goals in each planning period
• Document scope in well-written epics and tasks in Jira
• Participate in code reviews and documenting the system
• Be proactive in improving team communication and efficiency

• Minimum 5+ years of professional experience, preferably through a company's transition from early-stage to midsized SaaS/PaaS business
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams (e.g. product, development, support) to deliver successful product and business outcomes
• Experience with Linux/CentOS
• Proficiency with the following tools:
• Ansible
• Docker
• Python
• Terraform
• Jenkins
• Experience with any of the following is a plus:
• Node.js
• Nomad
• Kubernetes
• Hashicorp Tooling (Vagrant, Packer, Consul, Vault)
• Experience automating infrastructure on a cloud provider (AWS/GCP/Azure)
• Experience delivering automated CI/CD pipelines with testing and recovery as first class citizens
• Experience managing and optimizing builds, releases, deployments
• Experience building reusable code and libraries
• Experience building, testing, and debugging complex systems in a multi-team environment
• Strong communication skills.
• Explaining complex technical concepts to other teams is no problem.
