This role is ideal for a highly experienced data engineer who thrives on building scalable, reliable, and high-performance data systems. You will help shape the architecture and technical direction of an AI-powered research platform, designing event-driven pipelines, distributed systems, and intuitive scientific applications. Working in a collaborative, remote-friendly environment, you will mentor engineers, drive engineering best practices, and contribute to cutting-edge solutions that accelerate scientific discovery. Accountabilities:

  • Define, design, and drive system architecture for services within a Node.js/TypeScript ecosystem
  • Build and maintain serverless, event-driven data pipelines for high-volume scientific data
  • Ensure software solutions are scalable, maintainable, and secure
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, conduct code reviews, and elevate coding standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement scientific solutions on a unified data platform
  • Improve engineering practices and standards, focusing on observability, reliability, and operational excellence
  • Contribute to the design of user interfaces that streamline research and data workflows

  • Requirements:

    • 12+ years of engineering experience, preferably in a SaaS environment
    • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
    • Advanced expertise in Node.js and React; strong experience in asynchronous processing and data pipelines
    • Proven ability to design and implement distributed, event-driven systems and high-performance web applications
    • Hands-on experience with large-scale data platforms (Spark, Databricks, Snowflake) and PostgreSQL
    • Professional experience with AWS, Kubernetes, RESTful APIs, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
    • Knowledge of Agile software development practices and automated testing frameworks
    • Experience leading cross-team initiatives, setting technical direction, and mentoring engineers
    • Bonus: experience with Scala, Kafka, Terraform, multi-cloud systems, Life Sciences/R&D data management
