Staff Data Scientist, DNA Products

Responsibilities

● Build machine learning models to predict the outcome of customer orders from data, including bioinformatics data
● Collaborate with other technical teams to integrate predictive analytics tools into our production systems
● Communicate risks and mitigation strategies to executive leadership
● Work with lab staff to translate business questions into data science problems
● Contribute to the development of a data-driven decision making culture

Requirements

● 5+ years of industrial data science experience
● A Masters’ or PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or related field
● Demonstrated ability to complete the full predictive analytics lifecycle from project ideation, data collection and engineering, analytics, modeling, and deployment
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Strong data visualization skills
● Expertise with the Python data science ecosystem
● Experience with cloud- and distributed computing systems such as Amazon Web Services and Spark

The base cash compensation for this California-based role is targeted at $125,000-$204,556 + bonus + equity + benefits. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location and may vary from the amount listed above. Compensation may be different in other locations.
