SailPoint is the leader in identity management and delivers an innovative approach to securing access across the enterprise with the SailPoint Predictive Identity platform. As a developer advocate, you will be playing an essential part in increasing the awareness and adoption of SailPoint technologies as well as ensuring that our developer community is successful throughout their journey with our products. You will be working with both partners and customers to help ensure their success. As part of the team, you will have a high degree of autonomy and support to pursue the initiatives you see fit. You will be the second Developer Advocate Developer Relations team, working alongside two full-time DevRel engineers and a full-time technical writer. This role will report directly to the Head of Developer Relations and falls under the Product & Engineering organization, reporting directly to the CTO.
Staff Developer Advocate
Clear owner of an impactful program or system that solves a large, open-ended problem. Leads project or technical design with expertise, guiding and enabling the best decisions to be made across the team. Unfazed by ambiguity, and often offers solutions that may not be evident to the leaders who presented the problem.
Collaborates with teammates across SailPoint to identify, define, and solve strategically important projects and initiatives. You should be a skilled and trusted mentor to the team, and should be committed to proactively offering regular, constructive feedback to others.
You will participate in the strategic development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects and programs. Works on complex issues where the analysis requires an in-depth knowledge of the company and the identity governance ecosystem. You will work frequently with other internal and external teams to resolve difficult developer issues, and anticipate and plan for future issues that will impact developer success and experience.
Requirements
  • This is a public-facing role. You must possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels, internally and externally, and across diverse geographies and leveraging remote teaming technologies.
  • Experience working in developer communities preferred, but not required.
  • Strong familiarity and knowledge of REST APIs and Webhooks, GraphQL is a plus.
  • Experience in identity governance preferred, but not required.
  • Five years of programming experience preferred. Less years are encouraged to apply if you feel confident in other requirements.
  • Experience with Node.js preferred. Language agnostic is a strong plus. You are encouraged to share open source contributions.

What You'll Do
  • Engage with SailPoint developers to understand their perspectives, workflows, and use cases.
  • Work with product & engineering teams, acting as a stakeholder for external developers.
  • Drive SailPoint API awareness and adoption by generating content (forum posts, documentation, code samples, tools, videos, blog posts, conference engagements, etc.) that our developers will find most useful in being successful.
  • Shared responsibility in defining, building, managing, and growing the SailPoint Developer Community.
  • Write code through proof-of-concepts & code snippets, SDKs & the CLI, and atypical avenues like live coding sessions.
  • Act as a stakeholder for any developer resources, such as SDKs, the CLI, Postman, or influential community-built tools.
  • Responsibility in owning or participating in cross-functional teams (e.g. the API guild).
