Staff Engineer - Python & Django

As a Staff Engineer - Python & Django, you will lead the technical direction of a high-impact reporting platform that powers data-driven decision-making at scale. In this senior individual contributor role, you will architect robust backend systems, optimize large-scale data processing, and influence long-term engineering strategy while collaborating with cross-functional teams. You'll balance innovation with technical excellence by driving architectural improvements, reducing technical debt, and ensuring system reliability. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, mentoring senior developers, and building scalable reporting and analytics solutions in a collaborative, remote-first environment.

• Define and drive the technical roadmap for the reporting platform, balancing new feature development with strategic technical debt reduction.
• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable reporting systems, data ingestion pipelines, and high-performance query infrastructure using Python, Django, and ClickHouse.
• Lead technical design discussions, evaluate architectural trade-offs, and establish engineering best practices across the reporting ecosystem.
• Analyze recurring production issues, identify root causes, and implement durable solutions that improve platform stability, reliability, and performance.
• Optimize reporting architecture and data pipelines to support faster report generation and increased scalability across growing datasets.
• Maintain and enhance internal administration and reporting portals, contributing to frontend development when required.
• Partner with product managers, engineers, customers, and other stakeholders to translate reporting and analytics requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Mentor senior engineers, promote technical excellence, and contribute to knowledge sharing across the engineering organization.
• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and architectural improvements that enhance scalability, maintainability, and long-term platform success.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including demonstrated impact in a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or Software Architect capacity.
• Deep expertise in Python, Django, and ClickHouse, with extensive experience building production-grade applications.
• Strong experience designing, scaling, and optimizing data-intensive systems, including reporting platforms, analytics applications, business intelligence solutions, and large-scale data pipelines.
• Proven ability to lead technical architecture decisions and facilitate complex design discussions across engineering teams.
• Experience diagnosing systemic production issues and implementing long-term engineering solutions that improve system reliability.
• Comfortable working across the technology stack, including backend services and frontend enhancements for administrative and reporting interfaces.
• Strong understanding of performance optimization, large dataset management, and query tuning.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Passion for mentoring engineers, improving engineering processes, and delivering user-focused technical solutions.
• Previous experience working within startup or high-growth technology environments is considered an advantage.
