About the job:

The Staff Platform Engineer will build relationships with technology stakeholders and leverage code to automate the software development life cycle and improve software reliability and resiliency. This is an individual leadership role that will innovate and implement efficiencies with the goal of boosting productivity and reliable scaling.

What you’ll do:

• Lead platform optimization initiatives and create code to automate the software development life cycle and reduce blocks and toil
• Build reliability culture and liaise across teams to define, track and share SLOs and SLIs
• Design and implement our Access and Identity controls using products such as Control Tower
• Guide technology leadership on architectural design decisions and best practices
• Partner with Information Security to monitor systems and promote security
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other platform engineers
• Train and upskill engineers on engineering trends, architectural patterns, capacity management and cloud infrastructure
• Proactively manage Upside’s capacity and cost

What you need:

• 10+ years of software engineering inclusive of creating and delivering solutions that enhance SDLC productivity or software reliability
• Programming expertise in Python, Java and Terraform (HCL)
• Deep knowledge of AWS and Lambdas, K8s, EKS and ECS instances
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering highly preferred
• Willingness to learn, adapt, fail and grow (professional growth mindset)
• Exceptional customer service and people skills
