Job Description

Team: IT

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Platform Engineer | Service Mesh based in Brazil.

This role sits at the core of a modern cloud-native platform organization, responsible for enabling engineering teams to build, scale, and operate highly reliable distributed systems. You will play a key role in designing and evolving a global Kubernetes-based infrastructure, with strong emphasis on service mesh architecture and multi-cluster connectivity. The position focuses on reducing operational complexity through automation, platform tooling, and self-service capabilities. You will work with cutting-edge technologies in the CNCF ecosystem, contributing to a highly scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud platform. Collaboration is central, as you will partner with multiple engineering teams to define standards, improve observability, and drive platform adoption. This is a high-impact role where your work directly influences developer productivity and system reliability at scale. The environment is fast-paced, modern, and deeply engineering-driven.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, build, and evolve a global Kubernetes-based platform on AWS with a strong focus on scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Lead the architecture and implementation of a multi-cluster Istio Service Mesh, ensuring reliability, observability, and performance.
  • Develop Kubernetes operators and automation tools to enable self-service infrastructure provisioning for engineering teams.
  • Improve platform observability through metrics, tracing, logging, and cost-awareness initiatives using modern monitoring stacks.
  • Define and promote engineering standards, RFCs, and best practices across platform and product teams.
  • Support engineering teams in adopting platform tools and ensuring smooth integration into their workflows.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to reduce operational overhead through automation and infrastructure abstraction.
  • Requirements:

    • Strong experience with AWS cloud services and Kubernetes in production-grade environments.
    • Proven expertise in Istio Service Mesh, including design and management of multi-cluster architectures.
    • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes internals and ecosystem tools (operators, controllers, CRDs).
    • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Kubernetes-native approaches such as Crossplane or custom operators.
    • Strong background in observability systems (metrics, logs, tracing, alerting).
    • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Go, Python, or Ruby) for building platform tools.
    • Experience in cloud-native environments with CI/CD, GitOps (e.g., ArgoCD, GitHub Actions), and automation practices.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a systems-thinking mindset.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English and Portuguese.
    • CNCF certifications (CKA, CKS, CKAD) are highly valued.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation package aligned with senior-level platform engineering roles
      • Flexible remote work model with home office support
      • Health, dental, and life insurance coverage
      • Wellbeing programs including fitness, mental health, and wellness subscriptions
      • Paid time off, parental leave, and additional personal days
      • Career development programs, certifications, and continuous learning support
      • Exposure to global-scale Kubernetes and service mesh architectures
      • Collaborative engineering culture focused on autonomy and impact.
