The Staff Software Engineer will play a key role in shaping the future of consumer banking technology at scale.

Accountabilities:

The Staff Software Engineer will provide technical leadership across banking-focused engineering initiatives, helping teams deliver secure, scalable, and customer-centered financial solutions. This role requires a balance of hands-on development, architectural ownership, strategic thinking, and mentorship.

  • Partner with product managers, designers, engineers, and business stakeholders to define, communicate, and execute technical strategies that support banking product goals.
  • Drive cross-functional architectural decisions and infrastructure improvements that enhance system reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Contribute directly to software design and implementation while maintaining strong engineering standards across the team.
  • Influence technical direction across multiple teams by identifying opportunities for optimization, alignment, and long-term improvements.
  • Design and deliver creative solutions for complex engineering challenges within large-scale financial systems.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, helping them expand their technical capabilities and increase their impact across the organization.
  • Promote an AI-first engineering mindset by exploring and applying modern AI capabilities to improve development practices and team productivity.
  • Champion quality, operational excellence, and best practices across software development processes.
  • Requirements:

    The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineering leader with a strong background in building large-scale systems and influencing technical direction across teams. You should bring deep engineering expertise, strong communication skills, and a passion for mentoring others.

    • 12+ years of software development experience or equivalent technical expertise.
    • 3+ years of experience leading large-scale engineering initiatives, including planning, execution, and delivery of complex projects.
    • Proven ability to identify, align, and implement optimal solutions across sophisticated, interconnected systems.
    • Strong experience designing and building scalable backend systems and distributed architectures.
    • Ability to solve complex technical problems with creativity, sound judgment, and strong engineering principles.
    • Demonstrated success in mentoring engineers and helping teams grow technically.
    • Experience with backend technologies such as Java, Kotlin, cloud platforms, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
    • Familiarity with technologies including AWS, HTTP, JSON, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, Kafka, databases, caching systems, observability tools, and modern CI/CD practices.
    • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
    • Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to influence teams across an organization.
