Job Description

Team: IT

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Software Engineer based in United States.

You will join a mission-driven, high-scale engineering organization focused on building and evolving critical healthcare communication systems used by clinicians and care teams every day. In this role, you will operate as a senior technical leader with broad influence across multiple engineering teams, shaping architecture, driving complex system design decisions, and improving platform reliability at scale. You will work hands-on across backend and frontend systems, contributing directly to production code while also defining engineering standards and long-term technical direction. The environment requires strong cross-functional collaboration with product, architecture, DevOps, and leadership stakeholders to ensure scalable and resilient solutions. You will also play a key role in modernizing infrastructure, improving developer productivity, and strengthening system observability. In addition, you will mentor engineers and help elevate engineering practices across the organization. This is a high-impact role where your decisions directly influence platform stability, performance, and user experience in a mission-critical domain.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the design and evolution of distributed systems and platform architecture across multiple teams, ensuring scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Contribute hands-on to production-grade features and system improvements using Python and React, including complex refactors and modernization efforts.
  • Define and enforce engineering standards, patterns, and best practices to improve consistency, performance, and developer productivity.
  • Drive technical initiatives end-to-end, including design documentation, cross-team alignment, implementation, and delivery oversight.
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes deployments, and infrastructure automation using tools such as Docker, Helm, ArgoCD, and Jenkins.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to enhance AWS-based infrastructure, observability, and system efficiency.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical coaching, and knowledge-sharing initiatives such as tech talks and documentation.
  • Requirements:

    • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience at senior or staff level in distributed, product-focused environments.
    • Strong expertise in Python and at least one web framework (Django, FastAPI, or Flask), with working knowledge of React or similar frontend frameworks.
    • Proven track record of leading complex, multi-team technical initiatives from design through delivery.
    • Deep understanding of distributed systems, including service decomposition, event-driven architecture, caching, APIs, and data consistency.
    • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and modern CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Helm, ArgoCD).
    • Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, including performance tuning, schema design, and scaling strategies.
    • Experience with AWS services such as ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, SQS/SNS, and CloudWatch.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholders.
    • Experience improving engineering culture through mentorship, documentation, and process or tooling enhancements.
    • Experience in regulated environments (e.g., healthcare or HIPAA) and familiarity with observability tools is a plus.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation package with a base salary range of $170,000 to $210,000 USD, plus potential equity eligibility.
      • Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision insurance from day one.
      • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching and immediate vesting.
      • Generous paid time off including holidays, floating holidays, and flexible vacation policies.
      • Remote-first work environment supporting flexibility and work-life balance.
      • Annual professional development budget for training, certifications, and conferences.
      • Opportunity to contribute to mission-critical healthcare technology with meaningful real-world impact.
