Location: Fully Remote with Travel: in USA
Job Overview:
The State Initiatives Associate will work with the Senior Manager of Government Relations to support state level sales and literacy thought leadership opportunities through government relations activities. This role serves as one of Lexiaโs key liaisons to elected officials, primarily governors and state legislators, who influence state legislation, education policy, and school district purchasing decisions.
This role will be responsible for the design and execution of internal strategic plans intended to raise the visibility of Lexia Learning in target states by partnering with sales and marketing professionals to ensure productive relationships with elected officials.
Anticipation and identification of political challenges and educational opportunities is critical. We are looking for someone who is a creative, strategic thinker with a positive attitude and excellent self-motivation. This role will help provide practical approaches that support a quickly changing organization. This is a home office position that can be located anywhere in the U.S. with 60% travel required.
Job Responsibilities:

Manage state level lobbying activities

Communicate with governors and legislators to share best practices in literacy policies and advocate for state level contracts for Lexiaโs professional learning solutions

Formalize government relations activities and communications

Collaborate with sales and internal divisions to develop strategic plans to increase sales in priority states

Play an integral role in conference strategy

Represent Lexia Learning at conference and partner events

Assist in development of messaging and positioning

Regular briefs with sales and internal teams
Job Requirements:
-
Bachelor's Degree in Education or Political Science preferred, or a related degree or equivalent work experience

Minimum of 4+ years of experience working for a governor, state legislator, or in a position responsible for multistate government relations workย

Knowledge and expertise in education policy, with literacy and language policy preferred

Ability to travel frequently (60%+)

Experience and proven ability to work and thrive in a cross-functional role, with success in aligning goals and objectives while balancing competing interests and priorities

Proven track record of interpreting relevant insights from various resources to spot trends

Exceptional organization, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

Confidence and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment

Exceptional level of communication skills, including public speaking, presenting, and writing
