  • 4 years of experience in government, advocacy, campaigns or journalism.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience working on global issues or with global policy audiences.
  • Understanding of how policymakers communicate and what they value.
  • Ability to bring organization, process and structure to chaos.
  • Ability to work in a creative and collaborative style.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Passion for creative storytelling, including through an array of outlets such as events and paid/earned/digital media.

As a member of Google's Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You'll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you'll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. Google's Strategic Narratives team is responsible for helping Google effectively communicate its pro-innovation policy agenda to Key Opinion Former audiences. Our portfolio of work includes developing effective policy narratives and deploying messages to key audiences globally through robust, creative "go-to-market" content and strategies.
Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company's engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others' views and opinions, and distill and share the company's perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $108,000-$158,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Partner with Google's Marketing and Communications teams to curate and package message content that informs and engages global policy audiences.
  • Bring technology topics to life online and in person, including through events, research, partnerships, social media, and collateral.
  • Leverage data-driven research and insights to inform narratives and narrative content.
  • Incorporate the best of Google's products, partners, and social impact programs into public policy narratives and content.
