This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Summer Seasonal Labourer, Highway Maintenance based in Canada.
This role offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the safety and reliability of local transportation infrastructure during the busy summer maintenance season. You will work as part of a field-based highways team responsible for maintaining roadsides, highways, and surrounding public spaces. The work is hands-on, physically active, and carried out in a variety of outdoor conditions, making it ideal for individuals who enjoy practical work and being outdoors. You will support essential road safety operations such as flagging, vegetation control, and general site upkeep. The environment is team-oriented, safety-focused, and community-driven, with structured shifts and clear operational routines. This position is well-suited for individuals looking for stable seasonal employment with the opportunity to gain valuable field experience in infrastructure maintenance.
Accountabilities:
- Support highway maintenance operations by performing flagging duties to ensure safe traffic flow around active work zones.
- Carry out general labour tasks including roadside cleanup, site housekeeping, and basic maintenance activities.
- Assist with vegetation control such as mowing, trimming, and maintaining grassed or landscaped highway areas.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions while adhering strictly to safety procedures and operational guidelines.
- Support seasonal infrastructure upkeep across highways, parks, and recreation-adjacent areas as required.
- Perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, bending, kneeling, and extended periods of manual work.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor environments, including lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Valid G driver’s license and ability to provide a recent 3-year driving abstract.
- Previous experience in snow removal or highway maintenance is considered a strong asset.
- Strong awareness of safety practices and ability to follow instructions in active roadside environments.
- Willingness to work shift schedules, including nights, weekends, and on-call rotations depending on operational needs.
- Reliable, team-oriented attitude with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced field environment.
- Comfort working in varying weather conditions and changing outdoor work environments.
- Competitive hourly wage ranging from $20 to $22, based on experience and qualifications.
