Job Description

SUMMARY

TAs play a critical role in teaching Fellows in Correlation One’s virtual Computer Support Specialist United Kingdom & United States/Canada training programs. The TA commitment for our program will be for the duration of 18 weeks. TAs will be expected to support synchronous sessions as well as provide asynchronous support to Fellows to ensure their comprehension and learning.

We review applications on a rolling basis and expect to make all hiring decisions by February 16th (US/CAN) and March 7th (UK). Please note that applications and roles are filled on a first come first serve basis.

DESCRIPTION

  • The program is held over 18 weeks, from:
    • US/CAN: March 2nd - June 29th, 2023
    • UK: March 21st - July 18th, 2023
    • ** You are not required to reside in the country of the program you support
  • In tandem with a CO-TA, you will support ~50 learners in their learning as they work toward completion of the program.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Onboarding (Pre-Program)

  • We will host 2 live onboarding sessions for each program, when we walk through the program elements, set you up on our systems, and ensure that you are prepared to teach and support learners effectively before the program launches. We will provide training materials in advance of, during, and after these onboarding sessions, which will be important for you to ensure your understanding of this content and your responsibilities.
    • US/CAN program
      • Thursday, February 16th 2023: 12:00 - 1:00pm ET
      • Tuesday, February 21st 2023: 6:00pm -7:00pm ET
    • UK program
      • Thursday, March 10th, 2023: 14.00 - 15.00 GMT (9:00am - 10:00am ET)
      • Tuesday, March 14th, 2023: 18.00 - 19.00 GMT (1:00pm - 2:00pm ET)

Management and Support (During Program): 

  • Join us for our program launches, which will take place on the first day of the program, where you will introduce yourself to learners. 

Weekly Responsibilities 

  • Attend all program lectures, as listed below:
    • US/CAN: Tuesdays & Thursdays; 12:00pm - 1:30pm ET
    • UK: Tuesdays & Thursdays; 19.00 - 20.30 GMT (2:00pm - 3:30pm ET)
  • Provide up to 8 hours of individual office hour sessions for learners each week. You may set these hours within our parameters, for your convenience.
  • Work with fellow instructors/TAs and our team on ways to improve learner experience

REQUIREMENTS

  • Empathy, flexibility, patience; passion for working with diverse learners who are new to content
  • Prior teaching experience at any level is a plus
  • University/college degree, or working experience in Computer Science and/or relevant topics: 
    • Computer Hardware
    • Software Basics
    • Operating Systems - Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android
    • VPN, Security, Remote Access
    • Cloud-Computing
    • Future IT

This position is accessible for those with other professional responsibilities, including full-time jobs, provided you can commit to regular synchronous support for live class sessions.  We require a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice for any planned absences from live sessions or periods when Trainers are not available (i.e., scheduled vacations, other work commitments, etc.); we will communicate more specific expectations for this during the onboarding process.
