Tech Equity Collective (TEC) advances energizing pathways into tech for Black+ professionals. The Tech Equity Collective (TEC) Innovate experience empowers aspiring technologists to become leading tech professionals. This immersive, hybrid experience brings together 300+ participants for a unique blend of expert-led sessions, tailored coaching, and exclusive networking opportunities. TEC Innovate leverages the expertise of Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) to equip diverse talent with the skills and resources to excel in their career.Â
The Opportunity
The TEC Innovate Cohort Coach will learn about and assess the qualities required of successful candidates for top career opportunities across the technology industry and ensure coaching sessions prepare a cohort of highly qualified candidates to apply for high-trajectory jobs within the tech sector. To this end, you have a keen understanding of the success profile sought by companies looking for hires across functions and business units, as well as nurture and guide participants through their development and preparation.Â
The ideal candidate has experience with a major tech corporation or VC-backed tech firm, with a strong understanding of recruiting and hiring requirements for technical roles. This position also requires coaches to prepare participants effectively for on-the-job success and advancement. To excel in this role, you should possess excellent interpersonal and motivational skills to initiate strong relationships and build rapport with participants, engaged partners, and MLT staff. The Cohort Coach will play a pivotal role in cultivating a culture of inclusivity, belonging, and wellness across the experience.
This role is a remote, contractor position offered by Management Leadership for Tomorrow and requires in-person attendance at a two-day event in New York, NY on October 28-29.Â
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and coach a portfolio of participants through our career management curriculum and the development of and adherence to a tailored career roadmap in tech
- Track, manage, and record coach engagements and participant notesÂ
- Develop, revise, or deliver content for TEC Innovate virtual and in-person sessionsÂ
- Collaborate with TEC Innovate team to understand the career opportunities available to aspiring tech professionals; identify, educate, and prepare program participants for the best potential opportunities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required and 7+ years of experience within the tech industry, contributing a strong business or technical foundation to the role.
- Demonstrated understanding of the bar for success in top organizations in the tech industry and how to coach professionals to meet that bar.
- Strong track record of success in coaching and mentoring.
- Demonstrated holistic approach and clear passion for coaching and training aspiring professionals.Â
- Experience tracking and reporting data.Â
- Background in leading and/or participating in initiatives with organizations with similar missions to MLT and/or TEC Innovate.
- Available for an in-person two-day event in New York, NY on October 28-29 (travel expenses reimbursed).Â
Preferred qualifications include:
- Strong technical foundation and hands-on experience.
- Deep understanding of technology and its applications, as well as the latest trends in tech.
- Offers specialized coaching expertise tailored to tech professionals.
- Possesses multiple technical and coaching certifications and/or degrees.
