ServiceTitan is seeking an ambitious, motivated Technical Accounting Manager - Revenue to join our Accounting team in one of the fastest growing tech startups in Southern California, backed by the best VC firms in the SaaS space. The position is responsible for overseeing daily technical revenue recognition functions.

You will be a subject matter expert for revenue recognition. As a business advisor and individual contributor, this role will support global operations, and will work closely with sales, business operations, legal, systems and finance teams. The individual must understand, analyze and communicate financial impacts to revenue throughout the organization in accordance with ASC606.
What You'll Do:
  • Act as the primary technical accounting resource for revenue recognition by researching, resolving and documenting accounting issues
  • Provide technical accounting guidance in collaboration with sales, legal and finance teams to review and evaluate revenue implications in negotiating and structuring contracts and other transactions
  • Determine appropriate treatment for US GAAP revenue recognition under ASC 606 by reviewing contracts and/or product overview, validating proper recognition in financial systems, drafting memos, and reviewing/approving associated journal entries and revenue schedules
  • Perform monthly and annual close activities which include analyzing accounts on a customer-level, preparing revenue journal entries, documenting and performing impact analysis over contract amendments and modifications, performing account reconciliations and flux analyses, and resolving issues as needed
  • Partner with the Financial Reporting team on drafting revenue related disclosures and supporting schedules
  • Liaise with external auditors, including, drafting technical position memos, responding to audit requests related to revenue and performing walkthroughs
  • Partner with various acquired businesses and subsidiaries to ensure compliance with ServiceTitan revenue accounting policies and best practices, as well as provide technical accounting guidance for entity level transactions
  • Special projects in order to continuously improve processes, including implementation of new revenue management module and billing software, and working with Director of Revenue Accounting & Controller to build reporting from adjacent systems (Salesforce, CPQ, ServiceTitan platform, etc.) to assist with internal and external reporting


What You'll Bring:
  • 4-6 years of accounting experience; CPA required
  • 3+ years of public accounting experience preferred; combination of public accounting with industry experience in software and/or SaaS a major plus
  • Must have in-depth understanding of accounting theory (e.g. GAAP) and revenue recognition for SaaS and software companies
  • Experience with revenue and deferred revenue reconciliations and journal entries
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and sales-reporting tools (including Salesforce, CPQ, etc).
  • Experience with ERP Systems, especially in Workday is a plus. Experience with a revenue/contract management tool is also a plus.
  • Experience at a publicly-traded company (including audit experience at a publicly-traded company) or experience in a successful IPO is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem-solving, and results

ServiceTitan is committed to fair and equitable compensation for all of our employees. We thoughtfully consider a wide range of factors when determining individual compensation. The expected salary range for this role is between $113,000 - $162,000. Actual compensation for an individual may vary depending on skills, performance over time, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition to the base salary, the total compensation package also includes an annual bonus, equity and a holistic suite of benefits.
