Technical Instructional Designer

Job Summary: Develops and implements learning and development strategy. Collaborates with stakeholders to determine developmental needs and to design solutions to those needs. Develops and implements the learning and development strategy. Identifies areas of improvement and possible training opportunities. Leads the design and development of training programs. Majority of time will be spent designing and developing OnDemand and instructor-led interactive innovative and engaging technical training offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supports the Rackspace learning environment.

• Leads the learning architecture of learning and knowledge environment.

• Acts as a liaison between learning and development team and business unit.

• Responsible for training strategies and execution plans for all technical training programs.

• Designs develops and runs programs.

• Leads development of special professional development programs.

• Quickly grasp and apply public cloud and private cloud technologies offering support across the team and providing detailed analysis for any technical issues encountered within training environments

Qualifications:

• Ability to understand individual personalities their interactions with the organization as a whole and how this impacts performance and the overall learning journey.

• Knowledge of Learning Methodologies Learner Personas and Learner Modalities and applies learning theory in curriculum and instructional design to best meet learner needs.

• Ability to adapt curriculum for both in-person and remote classroom settings.

• Build hands-on learning activities such as guided labs and applications of very technical content in an understandable format.

• Experience with Canva Adobe Articulate Articulate 360/RISE 360/Storyline MindTickle Trello Sharepoint.

• Expert assessment skills and the ability to complete stakeholder analyses.

• Expert knowledge of the processes procedures and expectations of technical and customer support organizations.

• Has a deep understanding of the audience and organizational needs.

• Aptitude for making appropriate decisions considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions.

• Self-starter intrinsically motivated eager learner for multiple technologies who can turn around and help others passionately learn the same material.

• Excellent time management facilitation communication decision-making presentation and organization skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent presentation skills.

Technical Skills:

• Understanding of cloud computing (storage network & compute) backed by at least 5 years of hands-on technical experience in private or public cloud environments.

• Additional technical scripting languages and DevOps experience/certifications preferred: Python Terraform Ansible SRE/DevOps skills.

• Additional technical virtualization experience/certifications preferred: VMware OpenStack.

• Additional technical networking experience/certifications preferred: Cisco Network Infrastructure and/or Network Security F5 Load Balancers Fortinet Firewalls.
