Job Description

Job Overview
Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Technical Program Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of technical projects within our organization. You will work with a wide variety of interested parties, including engineering, product, and customer-facing organizations to ensure that initiatives meet scope and timing commitments when delivered.
You will be the key point of contact for your project, and as such, you will drive collaboration, communication, and escalations. This will require a strong understanding of the context of the work: the desired outcome, why it matters, and what is necessary to deliver it.
Driving adherence to the stated plan will be equally important to know when to update the plan due to risks and other factors. Flexibility and agility in service of delivery and putting people over processes will be key to success.
What You'll Do

  • Gain a deep understanding of the goals and deliverables of the project.
  • Build and maintain plans and other artifacts to support the delivery of technical initiatives.
  • Relentlessly drive the execution necessary to deliver the project.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and issues impacting progress.
  • Resolve blockers and bottlenecks.
  • Own communication of goals, status updates, risks, and impact to stakeholders at all levels
  • Provide insights for planning and prioritization based on the understanding of the project
  • Design, develop, and continuously improve processes to make the project successful.
  • Support with diagnosis and resolution of bottlenecks or blockers.

What You'll Need to Succeed
We're looking for someone who:

  • Has the ability to work 100% remotely, or from an Applied Systems office

Your experience should include some or all of the following:

  • You have a solid technical background from education or equivalent work experience.
  • You have at least 5+ years of experience in program management in a dynamic environment, and a strong track record in managing complex cross-functional projects.
  • You enjoy problem-solving, and you are willing to have your hypothesis proven wrong.
  • You are flexible and adaptable. You get things done even if you must deviate from the process.
  • You have experience working collaboratively across organizations, and you enjoy bringing diverse viewpoints to the point of collaboration.
  • You have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and you value fostering healthy working relationships where healthy conflict not only exists but thrives.
  • You have strong communication skills, organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • You have experience influencing without direct authority at senior levels internal and external to the engineering organization
  • You have a working knowledge of software development lifecycle practices.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or CIS, or equivalent work experience
  • We proudly support and encourage people with military experience, as well as military spouses, to apply

What You'll Gain
Benefits from Day One

  • Health insurance plans, dental, and vision
  • Wellness incentives
  • 401(k) and/or RRSP retirement savings plans with employer match

Work-Life Balance

  • Competitive paid vacation time and a free day for your birthday
  • Personal/sick time
  • Paid holidays
  • Flex Time
  • Paid parental leave (U.S. candidates)
