As League enters its next stage of growth, data products and application of AI is critical. To wit, we’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced VP of Data to provide thought leadership, strategic direction and technical expertise. In this role, you will direct and lead highly visible cross-functional projects and relationships with key stakeholders across the organization and greater ecosystem (including executive leadership and League’s Board of Directors). As a key member of the Engineering leadership team, the VP of Data will oversee the continued growth, development and success of three established teams under the Data umbrella: Data Platform, Research/Insights, and Personalization. 

The ideal candidate will have an excellent track record in leading the development of complex data environments, enabling data-driven decision-making and shaping data analytics strategies. With a strong background in leading transformational change, this candidate will play a crucial role in guiding the introduction of innovative new technologies/products to enhance our platform's data environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Shape the vision and strategy for the Data organization, driving the development and execution of enterprise data initiatives and products that have significant impact on business success
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering and Growth leadership and teams to position and build data products our clients need and desire
  • Partner on challenges even outside the Data umbrella as an active member of League’s Executive Leadership Team, providing thought leadership and acting as a change agent at the highest level of the organization
  • Direct the development and management of data, research/insights and personalization strategies, ensuring data is a key enabler of business growth
  • Drive the design and implementation of data management frameworks and structures, built to enable the business to quickly and effectively access and interpret data.
  • Define and implement data quality, data privacy, governance and policy frameworks to manage and safeguard our platform's customer data.
  • Provide expert-level coaching and feedback to the leadership of the data team, driving transformational change.
  • Drive strategy to ensure our platform offers personalized user experiences that meet the highest quality standards, maximizing customer engagement and lifetime value
  • Manage budgets and costs within your remit.
  • Security related responsibilities, including:
    • Compliance with Information Security Policies
    • Ensure access management is performed in compliance with the employee's role and responsibilities
    • Responsibility and accountability for executing League's policies and procedures within the department/ team
    • Notification of HR, Legal, Compliance & Security of any incidents, breaches or policy violations

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in data analysis and management, preferably at a health tech and/or consumer-facing tech company
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in progressively responsible leadership roles (through to the senior management level), managing medium to large-sized teams and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Meaningful experience working with executive level leadership
  • Deep technical expertise in data architecture, data modeling, and data governance practices.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to translate data insights into business value.
  • Experience with data science workflows and statistical methods.
  • Strong collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills, with experience building positive working relationships with senior leaders across the business.
  • Track record of success managing and delivering complex data projects in an agile environment.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based and big data technologies and platforms.
  • Results-driven and forward-thinking, with the ability to influence and drive change across the organization.

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for base salaries for the position across all US locations.
