ABOUT THIS POSITION

WHAT YOU'LL DO

* **Strategic Leadership:** Defining and executing Waystar's overall data strategy including data governance data quality data architecture and data analytics roadmap to support business objectives.
* **Team Management & Development:** Building mentoring and leading a high-performing team of data engineers data scientists and data analysts fostering a culture of innovation collaboration and continuous improvement.
* **Data Governance & Compliance:** Establishing and enforcing robust data governance policies standards and procedures to ensure data accuracy security privacy and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g. HIPAA GDPR CCPA).
* **Data Platform & Architecture:** Overseeing the design development and maintenance of scalable and robust data platforms data warehouses data lakes and analytical tools. Evaluating and implementing new data technologies and solutions.
* **Advanced Analytics & Reporting:** Driving the development and deployment of advanced analytical models machine learning algorithms and predictive insights to inform strategic decisions across various departments (e.g. product marketing finance operations).
* **Stakeholder Collaboration:** Partnering closely with business leaders and cross-functional teams to understand their data needs identify opportunities for data-driven improvements and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
* **Performance Monitoring & Optimization:** Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) for data initiatives monitoring data quality and optimizing data processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
* **Budget Management:** Managing budgets for data management and analytics initiatives ensuring optimal resource allocation and ROI.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

* **Education:** Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Data Science Statistics Mathematics Engineering or a related quantitative field. Master's degree or Ph.D. preferred.
* **Experience:**
* 10+ years of progressive experience in data management data warehousing business intelligence and advanced analytics with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large teams.
* Proven experience in defining and implementing data strategies and roadmaps in a complex organizational environment.
* Demonstrated success in building and scaling data platforms and analytics capabilities from the ground up.
* **Technical Skills:**
* Expertise in data modeling ETL/ELT processes and data warehousing concepts.
* Proficiency with cloud data platforms (e.g. AWS Azure GCP) and related services (e.g. Redshift Snowflake BigQuery Databricks).
* Strong command of SQL Python or R for data manipulation and analysis.
* Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau Power BI Looker) and data visualization techniques.
* Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and statistical modeling.
* **Leadership & Soft Skills:**
* Exceptional leadership communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
* Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with a track record of delivering measurable business impact through data.
* Demonstrated ability to attract develop and retain top data talent.
* Experience in the healthcare technology or financial technology industry is a significant plus.
* Ability to navigate complex technical and business challenges and drive initiatives to successful completion.
