Data Analyst

Job Summary

Provides advanced technical support to engineers in the Production/Completions department. Performs routine and complex activities involving data acquisition, data management, report generation, analytics, and information processing. Continually strives to implement automation and to streamline processes.

Performs a wide variety of tasks; contributes to process improvements. Acts as a resource for team members with less experience. Thorough working knowledge of technical/specialized tasks and responsibilities. Relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine best approach to achieve desired outcomes. Works under general supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Accumulate and effectively organize engineering data from multiple sources for engineering analysis.
• Develops, implements, and maintains standardized technical and engineering staff processes.
• Considered the go-to resource for well data analysis; discovers and troubleshoots data issues across sources and drives issues to resolution.
• Works independently to perform more complex data analyses.
• Confirm accuracy of well and production data, take appropriate action on any changes, and communicate required corrections to the necessary parties.
• Create and maintain custom database(s) and spreadsheets of technical data as required by group.
• Responsible for verifying, manipulating, analyzing, creating, automating, and reporting data.
• Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of technology, applications, terminology, and procedures required of the job function.
• Monitors new technologies and draws upon expertise to make recommendations for further exploitation of existing technologies.
• Provides advanced user support for software systems to other technical support and professional personnel, including troubleshooting user problems.
• Participates in training and sharing knowledge across the team, department, and company.
• Executes data & analytics tasks from beginning to end with minimal supervision in order to streamline processes and generate data driven insights for the team and across the company; may require oversight for more advanced technical workflows.
• Collaborates with varying levels of engineers and management to generate and deliver high-quality datasets, dashboards, visualizations, and tools to support engineering workflows, data quality efforts and data analytics.
• Knowledge of E&P operations and/or desire to learn more about the core business.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• 3+ years of closely related industry experience.
• Experience with databases and data structure.
• Experience working in WellView/SiteView and with data from ProCount/Carte.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access, and SQL programming language.
• An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Math, Computer Science, or related Science.
• At least a year serving an active role in data analytics projects.
• Proficiency in TIBCO Spotfire, including creation of tools and analysis using the application.
• Experience using Alteryx to improve workflows and processes.
• Knowledge of Python or R programming language a bonus.

Physical Requirements

• Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
• Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
