Managing Editor/Editorial Event Coordinator

BridgeTower Media is seeking a Managing Editor/Editorial Event Coordinator to lead a staff of reporters and news coverage. What skills does the job require?

• A skilled communicator who can coach, encourage, and inspire writers to produce their best work
• Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or relevant work experience
• 5+ years of experience in the news industry with editing and management experience 
• Knowledge of state government news coverage
• Strong computer skills and digital news management- including but not limited to: Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe InCopy, WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Reader and Acrobat, and internet research skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Reliable home internet connection with minimum 50mbps up/10mbps down

What will you be Responsible for?

• Work with staff reporters, freelance contributors and interns to conceive and execute insightful coverage for our audiences 
• Lead the editorial process for all events
• Lead a multimedia newsroom providing local, essential niche content online, email newsletters, social media and print.
• Edit and post stories and commentaries to ensure essential digital content daily
• Assist in the production of a weekly newspaper and digital edition 
• Help develop new editorial products and expand coverage areas and audiences
• Collaborate with other departments and other organizations within BridgeTower Media 
• Work with the Executive Editor to carry out the vision of the organization
• Keep abreast of industry developments, audience analytics and emerging editorial technologies 
• Various administrative duties
