MEP Project Manager NYCSCA Job description Company Overview The McCloud Group (TMG) provides construction management services, delivering maximum results for clients in multiple market sectors across the northeastern U.S. Founded in 2002, TMG serves as the owner’s representative and advocate through all phases of a construction project under a variety of delivery methods. TMG has spent the past 23 years building its reputation for quality through a proven track record of hundreds of successful K-12 schools, colleges and universities, and municipal/public sector projects throughout the tri-state region. Job Summary TMG manages construction on various NYCSCA school construction projects in New York City five (5) boroughs. These projects include new construction, exterior and interior renovations, new boiler systems, exterior masonry restoration, window replacement, roof replacement, green roof infrastructure, flood elimination, electrical upgrades, and HVAC refurbishment. TheMEP Project Managerwill provide on-site leadership, accountability, and continuity for the designated project team. They will be responsible for scheduling the work, overseeing construction, maintaining the schedule, site safety, project tracking and reporting, managing communication between all stakeholders, project closeout, and managing contractor payments. Primary Duties and Responsibilities • Provide the administration and coordination of activities for the design and construction of the more complex and/or highly visible construction and modernization projects. • Ensure the quality and high standards of performance and compliance in both design and construction by all consultants, vendors, etc. • Make decisions and act in a timely manner to expedite the timely completion of the construction process. • Correct mistakes and errors in design and construction before they can be extensively incorporated into the project or as early in the construction process as possible. • Make decisions on phasing and scheduling of projects. Prepare and/or ensure preparation of schedules for planning, design and construction. Monitor schedules and take appropriate actions to ensure that project is completed on schedule and within approved cost limitations. • Provide ongoing interface with contractors, construction managers, local school personnel on project issues. • Participate in the development and issuance of project procedures and policies. • Resolve issues and problems raised in field reports made by architects and construction management staff. • Work with architect/engineer of record regarding change orders, interpretation of contract documents, shop drawing submittals/approvals and other technical matters as required to ensure a structurally sound. code compliant and aesthetic acility. • Issue field memoranda or directives to contractors to enforce contract compliance. Advise senior management regarding the necessity for the assessment of liquidated damages and other contractual enforcement mechanisms, including default. • Use independent judgment to make on-site change order decisions negotiate with contractors. • Review contractors claims or disputed work and advise senior management as to appropriate action. Compile contract and project documentation necessary for adjudicating or denying such claims. • Visit various job sites as required in the performance of the above duties. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/architecture and/or construction-related field from an accredited college or university, • Five years’ experience as a technical specialist in construction and design related field, and Two years of experience managing all phases of construction work, or Comparable combination of education and experience.Ability to understand and interpret contract documents such as specifications, drawings, and shop drawings. • Must have experience in new and renovation type construction.
