Commercial Welder/Fitter Midstate Mechanical – Tempe, AZ Full-Time | In-Person | Pay: DOE About the Role: Midstate Mechanical is seeking an experiencedCommercial Welder/Fitterto join our team. This individual will be responsible for high-quality welding, fitting, and installation of piping systems and HVAC components on commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of trade-specific drawings, materials, and installation methods, along with a strong work ethic and commitment to safety and craftsmanship. Key Responsibilities: • Perform layout, fabrication, installation, and repair of HVAC and piping systems in commercial and industrial settings. • Read and interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings, as well as specifications, submittals, and blueprints. • Work with a variety of piping materials including copper, PVC, steel, and stainless steel. • Utilize multiple pipe joining methods: solvent-based adhesives, soldering, brazing, Pro-Press, threaded, and Victaulic systems. • Execute trade-specific tasks for new installations, upgrades, and tenant improvement projects. • Troubleshoot and repair trade-specific components as needed. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site. • Demonstrate time management, professionalism, and a positive attitude when working independently or with customers and other trades. • Travel to local job sites; a valid driver's license is required. • Be available to work flexible hours and overtime as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required: • 5+ years of experience in commercial/industrial HVAC piping systems. • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Certification • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Preferred: • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) • Metal Inert Gas Welding (MIG) • Medical Gas Brazing Certification (DT515) • Section IX Certification • API 1104 Certification • 10+ years of commercial or industrial welding experience. Physical Requirements: • Must be able to work in various conditions including heights, ditches, elevated platforms, and confined spaces. • Regularly required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift/move up to 50 pounds without assistance. • Must have visual acuity for reading blueprints and operating tools safely. • Exposure to loud noise, dust, fumes, and potentially hazardous materials is expected.
