Principal Software Engineer, Platform

First Dollar is building a health wallet for modern, member-driven plans. We power software-defined benefits that people love to use. Founded by a repeat founding team with prior exits to athenahealth and Expedia, First Dollar has ambitious plans to make healthcare better by improving how people pay for it.
Our engineering team is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our Platform team. This team is responsible for building productized APIs, UI components, and the underlying payment infrastructure that our customers use to create great benefits and payments experiences for their members. Similar to how Stripe has made payments simpler and more secure for businesses, First Dollar's APIs and SDKs are used by benefits administrators and health plans to make it easy for people to engage with and utilize their health and wellness benefits.
You will:

• Work closely with our Platform product owner to build APIs using Node, TypeScript, and GraphQL. We use Postgres for our database and host our services on Google Cloud Platform
• Deeply inform and lead approaches to how First Dollar processes payment transactions and moves money, utilizing both 3rd party services and building in house solutions as appropriate
• Collaborate with product to write superior documentation so First Dollar's APIs and SDKs are simple and easy to use for our customers
• Be a role model to every engineer at First Dollar, heavily mentoring and supporting other members of the team to help the entire organization grow and improve
• Raise the entire productivity of the engineering team by improving engineering standards, tooling, and processes
