Job Description
Asensus Surgical is hiring a Robotics Software Engineer to join our robotics and controls team.
This is a unique opportunity to be an important part of the development of our surgical robotics system and capital equipment platform. This role will be responsible for supporting robotics architecture decisions, implement and test advanced algorithms, and ensuring software quality and regulatory compliance.
The Robotics Software Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, R&D, and external partners to deliver world-class robotics software solutions for our Luna Platform.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, implementation and test of advanced software algorithms for control, communication, and data processing on the Luna platform.
- Participate in the software development lifecycle and effectively implement C++ software in a real-time, safety critical environment.
- Ensure software compliance with FDA and other relevant regulations, managing software documentation and design history files.
- Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to integrate software with electromechanical systems, sensors, and actuators.
- Assess third-party software solutions, libraries, or frameworks, and provide recommendations for integration or in-house development.
- Actively participate in algorithmic, control, mechanical design discussions and code reviews.
- All Other Essential Duties as directed

Qualifications
- M.S. in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of industry experience in software engineering and embedded software development, preferably with a focus on medical robotics.
- Demonstrated experience in robot control algorithm development, implementation, testing and debugging.
- Proficiency in C++ development within a Linux environment.
- Experience developing safety-critical software (medical device) is desired.
- In-depth understanding of essential robotics fundamentals. (e.g. kinematics, dynamics, control theory, modelling, calibration, system characterization & identification) is highly desired
- Experience with haptic devices and/or haptic interactions is beneficial.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
