Software Engineer

Tecovas is the first direct-to-consumer western brand, founded with the simple goal of making the world’s best western boots, apparel, and leather goods - and selling them at a fair price. Tecovas is looking for a Software Engineer who is passionate and excited about delivering great web experiences. Reporting directly to the Front-End Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and iterating features that support our digital products. You are a collaborative problem-solver who can architect and deliver solutions with best practices in mind. You are someone who loves the idea of helping both develop technology and a business.

This position is open to remote candidates within the United States.

What you’ll do:

• Work collaboratively with the product team to develop responsive and performant user interfaces and features supporting our eCommerce application, component libraries, and future digital products
• Translate static designs into semantic HTML and CSS that meets responsive, accessibility, and cross-browser requirements
• Evolve our UI component library, facilitate its maintenance, and evangelize its use
• Support the team’s standard of engineering excellence by advocating for best practices, and contributing to on-going process definition and culture
• Receive and offer technical feedback through pair programming and code reviews
• Assist with bug-fixes, codebase refactor and maintenance initiatives, and day-to-day site administration tasks as needed

Experience we’re looking for:

• 3+ years of software development experience focused on front end application development
• Strong JavaScript fundamentals and experience with GraphQL and REST APIs.
• Experience building composable, performant and accessible user interfaces and libraries
• Familiar with one or more SCSS frameworks - preferably TailwindCSS
• Familiar with software development methodologies; including Agile and Scrum
• Experience using source control systems and workflows in a small team environment - preferably with Git and Gitlab or Github
• Experience using a modern JavaScript client-side framework - preferably React.
• Experience with modern development build tools (Yarn, NPM, WebPack, Babel, etc).
• Experience developing custom Shopify themes, (headless) Storefronts, or Apps.
• Experience working with Figma and design systems.
