Overview We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation, and will be committed to delivering high-quality dishes that meet our fine dining standards. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of food safety and handling practices. Responsibilities • Prepare a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, ensuring presentation meets our restaurant's standards. • Collaborate with the kitchen team to create innovative menu items that reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences. • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area in accordance with food safety regulations. • Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and assist in ordering supplies as needed. • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices. • Ensure all food is prepared according to dietary restrictions and preferences when necessary. • Participate in catering events as required, showcasing sushi offerings to enhance the dining experience. Experience • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within the food industry, preferably in a fine dining environment. • Strong culinary skills with expertise in food preparation, cooking techniques, and meal preparation. • Familiarity with dietary department operations and menu planning is a plus. • Excellent knife skills and knowledge of food handling practices are essential. • Previous experience in restaurant settings is highly desirable, along with a solid understanding of catering operations. • A background in food service or culinary arts will be beneficial for success in this role.
