Summary NIST's Site Services Group is seeking an employee to support reliable campus operations by ensuring technicians have timely access to tools and equipment needed to maintain facilities and infrastructure. This position also supports official transportation services and special events, helping ensure safe, professional transport for visitors and NIST officials while maintaining accountability of government property. Duties In this position, you will: - Assist in the obtainment of tools and standard parts, such as water pumps, wheel bearings, fan clutches, brake linings, tailpipes, thermostats, master cylinders, windshield wiper motors, starters, alternators, batteries, drive line components, and other components of similar complexity by looking up replacement information in parts manuals or by making comparison with samples. - Prepare, maintain and file required documentation; verifies items and documentation received. - Follow up to assure return of nonexpendable items; verifies returned items for serviceability and prepare appropriate documents such as repair orders and report of survey. - Operate vehicles with a gross weight exceeding 26,000 pounds used to conduct special VIP tours and provide official passenger transportation in the National Capital Region. - Ensure vehicles are clean and serviceable by conducting premaintenance checks before operation. - Inspect fueling facility's tanks, pipes, and dispensers daily to ensure no deficiencies exist. - Record all findings on a daily inspection checklist. -Follow established safety rules and regulations, maintain a safe and clean work environment, use and assure proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing. Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License ( CDL) within the first 6 months of employment.
