Summary NIST is seeking highly motivated Senior Administrative and Financial Managers to provide strategic administrative, financial, and operational leadership supporting critical scientific and research programs. Positions oversee budget planning, solvency analysis, organizational operations, workforce management, and executive advisory services while collaborating with senior leadership to improve processes, manage resources, and support mission-driven organizational goals. Learn more about this agency Duties In this role, you will: - Provide strategic administrative, financial, and operational management support to organizational leadership. - Develop, monitor, analyze, and report on organizational budgets, financial plans, and solvency status. - Advise senior leadership on administrative operations, resource management, workforce planning, and organizational priorities. - Oversee administrative programs and functions, including procurement, travel, human resources, property, bankcard, safety, and related operational activities. - Identify, analyze, and resolve complex administrative and operational issues and implement process improvements. - Represent the organization in meetings, committees, and cross-functional collaborations involving administrative and management matters. - Supervise, mentor, and evaluate administrative staff while managing workload distribution and organizational priorities. - Develop and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support organizational mission objectives. Requirements Conditions of employment U.S. citizenship Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service Suitable for Federal employment Merit applicants must meet time-in-grade/band requirements, as applicable Bargaining Unit Position: No Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must possess one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 (ZA-III at NIST) level. Specialized experience is defined as providing senior-level administrative and operational management support to an organization. Experience must include analyzing and managing budgets or financial operations; advising leadership on administrative or organizational matters; overseeing administrative programs such as human resources, procurement, travel, property, or related functions; and leading or supervising staff, projects, or organizational initiatives. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
