Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for The Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties
Performs maintenance on a variety of chemical and biological protection equipment.
Conducts testing to determine the repair that will be utilized.
Disassembles instruments/components to inspect for worn or damaged parts.
Complies with all environmental, security, safety administrative requirements.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Must have experience working with chemical and biological protective equipment.
May require up to 50% time for CONUS and OCONUS travel.
Pre-appointment physical is required and annual physical annually thereafter.
Must be able to physically perform the duties of a Chemical Equipment Repairer.
Emergency overtime, non-traditional work shifts, and travel may be required.
Will be required to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators.
This is a drug testing designated position under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program in accordance with AR 600-85.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Chemical Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision. Duties which include working with chemical OR biological protective equipment and perform troubleshooting tasks to diagnose the extent of repairs required. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Work is performed in standing, stooping and bending positions. Work is occasionally performed in a sitting position while making repairs at a workbench or using test equipment. Frequently handles items weighing 5-25 pounds and occasionally is required to lift items in excess of 45 pounds
Work is normally performed in a moderately lighted, heated and ventilated shop. Incumbents are subject to dirt and grease during work operations; also exposed to equipment under hydrostatic test up to 3000 psi. Work requires occasional use of protective clothing such as asbestos suits, rubber coats, aprons, gloves, masks, etc.

About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Pine Bluff Arsenal. This position serves as a Chemical Equipment Repairer performing the full range of work involved in the repair and maintenance of a variety of chemical and biological collective protection equipment.
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Direct deposit of pay is required.
This is a Logistics Career Field position.
Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
