Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Pine Bluff Arsenal. Position serves as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic.

Duties
Install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair a variety of commercial and industrial air conditioning equipment and related devices.
Use knowledge to test equipment and locate and diagnose problems in commercial and industrial air conditioning equipment.
Assemble and install equipment such as thermostats, motors, and outlets.
Select proper material needed to install, modify, or repair commercial and industrial air conditioning equipment.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug testing during employment.
EPA certifications as required by the state of Arkansas.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform tasks associated with the work of an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic performing simple repairs and installations - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Frequently carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms where the parts of systems worked on are frequently in hard to reach places. Mechanic is required to stand, stoop, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Works inside and outside, on top of tall buildings, in attic spaces, and in cramped areas with low overhead clearance. Electrical work is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. Works in controlled areas which requires special safety clothing and face masks. Mechanic is occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones, electrical shocks and burns and frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises. Incumbent will be required to work outdoors during inclement or during hot/cold weather conditions.

The Joint Munitions Command provides the Joint Force with ready, reliable, lethal munitions at the speed of war. JMC's mission is to support the production, storage, distribution, and demilitarization of munitions. This position serves as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic located at Pine Bluff Arsenal, AR, which is a subordinate installation of JMC.
