Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Pine Bluff Arsenal. Position serves as a Sheet Metal Mechanic Leader, the primary purpose of this position is to serve as a working leader over Sheet Metal Mechanics.

Duties
Work along with other workers, setting the pace.
Answer workers questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (e.g., technical orders).
Obtains needed information or decisions from the supervisor on problems that come up during the work.
Ensures that the needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available and attained.
Pass on to other workers instructions received from supervisor.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Sheet Metal Mechanic Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. Duties such as 1. Performing welder duties using electric, acetylene and/or inert gas shield welding process; 2. Planning the steps required to accomplish work orders; and 3. Demonstrating proper work methods. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Work requires standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching and often times working from ladders and scaffolds; often lifting objects weighing 50 lbs. and more; and often working in awkward and cramped positions for long periods of time.
Performs work indoors and outdoors, from extreme hot to extreme cold, from clean areas to extra-hot and dirty areas. Incumbent is exposed to possible injury from burns, falls, strains, cuts and bruises.

Additional information
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.

Salary is based on the local prevailing rate.
