Job Description

Team: Business Development

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director of Foundation Partnerships in Canada.

This senior development role sits at the intersection of fundraising strategy, relationship management, and mission-driven impact, focused on securing and expanding high-value foundation partnerships. You will lead efforts to drive significant philanthropic revenue by cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with institutional funders. Operating in a fully remote environment, you will oversee a portfolio of strategic donors while developing compelling grant narratives that translate organizational programs into fundable opportunities. The role requires both strategic leadership and hands-on execution, from pipeline development to proposal writing and donor engagement. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align funding strategies with programmatic priorities and long-term growth goals. This is a high-impact position where your work directly supports large-scale social outcomes and organizational sustainability.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will be responsible for driving foundation fundraising strategy and securing six- to seven-figure partnerships in support of multi-million-dollar annual revenue goals. You will identify, cultivate, and manage a robust pipeline of prospective foundation donors while leading the end-to-end grant process, including research, proposal development, submission, and reporting. You will also steward existing relationships to maximize long-term engagement and funding impact. In addition, you will supervise and guide a small team supporting grant writing and partnership development activities, ensuring alignment, quality, and performance across deliverables.

  • Secure and grow six- to seven-figure foundation partnerships supporting ~$7M+ annual revenue goals
  • Build and manage a strong pipeline of foundation prospects through research, qualification, and cultivation
  • Lead development of grant proposals ($100K–$2M+) and donor-facing materials in collaboration with internal teams
  • Prepare grant reports and ensure compliance with donor requirements and funding agreements
  • Cultivate, steward, and retain foundation partners through tailored engagement strategies
  • Supervise and support foundation partnership team members, ensuring effective execution of grant and outreach activities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (program, finance, communications) to align funding strategies and priorities
  • Requirements

This role requires strong experience in foundation relations, grant writing, and revenue generation within nonprofit or mission-driven environments. You should have a proven track record of securing high-value philanthropic partnerships and managing complex donor portfolios. Strong writing, communication, and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with the ability to work across cross-functional teams in a strategic yet hands-on capacity. Leadership experience is important, as the role includes supervising team members and guiding fundraising execution.

    • 5–7 years of experience in foundation relations, grant writing, fundraising, or account management
    • Proven success in meeting revenue or fundraising targets, including six- to seven-figure gifts
    • Strong experience developing grant proposals, donor reports, and fundraising narratives
    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
    • Experience using CRM systems and donor research tools
    • Strong financial awareness and ability to manage budgets and funding pipelines
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
    • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
    • Experience in nonprofit sectors such as veterans, housing, or basic needs is a plus
    • Benefits

      • Remote-first work environment
      • Opportunity to lead high-impact, mission-driven fundraising initiatives
      • Exposure to senior stakeholders and large-scale philanthropic partnerships
      • Leadership responsibility with team management scope
      • Competitive annual salary ($95,000–$110,000)
      • Meaningful work supporting social impact and community-focused programs
      • Collaborative and cross-functional organizational culture
