Job description

Summary: The Director of Marketing is responsible for planning, development, and implementation of all marketing strategies. This includes product offering and positioning, marketing promotions and corporate communications. Major Duties: • Develop marketing, brand and product strategies by studying economic indicators, consumer and customer trends, tracking changes in supply and demand, and monitoring the competition. • Recommend strategic marketing and product assortment plans/courses of action to executives. Implement directives. • Provide short and long term market forecasts and reports. Direct marketing research collection, analysis, and interpretation of market data. • Grow market share by developing marketing plans and programs for each brand / product and directing promotional support. • Maintain relations with influencer groups (customers, consumers, regulators) by organizing and developing specific influencer-relations programs, determining company presence at conventions, and trade association meeting/exhibitions. • Coordinate the planning and implementation of product and marketing initiatives closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Sales managers. • Oversee the development and execution of all consumer packaging. This includes rebranding and packaging updates. • Direct, supervise and develop brand managers and marketing department staff. These activities include:(a)Oversee and refine product and marketing plans prepared by the brand teams.(b)Prepare annual budgets, schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions.(c)Schedule and assign employees to projects, follow-up on work results, appraise performance/job results, empower and provide career growth to subordinates, and counsel as appropriate. • Other duties as assigned. Education: • Masters degree in business, marketing, communications or related field, and at least 5-8 years of marketing management experience with general merchandise consumer products sold to mass market retailers is preferred; or a BA/BA degree (in the above cited fields of study) with 10-12 years of marketing management experience. Experience/Skills • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills (ability to address large audiences), and experience preparing and presenting strategic recommendations to Executives and Board of Directors. • Must be analytical, creative and forward thinking with a customer-oriented approach. Requires strong math, statistics and forecasting skills, as well as advanced skills with Excel, Word, and Power Point. • Must be self motivated and comfortable working independently, able to progress initiatives without continual reliance on staff support. Need an indefatigable personality, a good problem solver that sees challenges as opportunities to overcome.
