This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Medical Director – Medical Genetics & Genomics – EviCore in the United States.
This role offers an opportunity for a board-certified physician to apply deep expertise in genetics and genomics within a high-impact, evidence-based clinical decision-making environment.
You will contribute to ensuring appropriate, high-quality patient care by conducting medical necessity reviews and guiding utilization decisions across complex genetic cases.
The position blends clinical expertise with structured medical review processes in a fully remote, technology-enabled setting.
You will collaborate closely with other physicians and clinical leaders to evaluate cases, ensure adherence to evidence-based guidelines, and support optimal care pathways.
The role includes direct engagement with referring providers through peer-to-peer consultations to discuss clinical appropriateness and alternative care options.
You will operate within a highly collaborative physician network focused on improving healthcare quality at scale.
This is a mission-driven position combining clinical rigor, regulatory awareness, and continuous learning in a rapidly evolving specialty field.
Accountabilities:
- Conduct evidence-based medical necessity reviews for genetic and genomic cases using structured case management systems.
- Participate in peer-to-peer consultations with referring providers to discuss clinical appropriateness and treatment options.
- Apply clinical expertise to evaluate requests and recommend alternative services when appropriate based on evidence-based guidelines.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant decision-making aligned with medical policies and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with a network of physician colleagues to support consistent, high-quality utilization management decisions.
- Stay current on advancements in genetics, genomics, and relevant clinical guidelines, laws, and accreditation standards.
- Contribute to improving care delivery by ensuring patients receive appropriate, evidence-based treatments.
- M.D. or D.O. with active U.S. medical license and board certification (ABMS or AOA).
- Board certification in one or more of the following specialties: Clinical Genetics and Genomics, Clinical Biochemical Genetics, Medical Biochemical Genetics, Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics, or Molecular Genetic Pathology.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-residency or fellowship clinical experience.
- Ability to obtain additional state medical licensure as required.
- Strong clinical judgment with experience in evidence-based decision-making.
- Familiarity with utilization management, healthcare regulations, and accreditation standards (e.g., URAC, NCQA) is a plus.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to work with digital case management systems independently.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to conduct structured clinical discussions with providers.
- Ability to work a consistent Monday–Friday schedule in a structured, remote clinical environment.
- Ability to meet physical and technical requirements of a fully remote, secure workstation setup.
- Annual salary range: $207,800 – $346,300 USD, based on experience and location.
