This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a National Director, Distinguished Events based in the United States.

The National Director, Distinguished Events will lead the strategic vision, growth, and execution of high-impact fundraising events across a nationwide network. This role will drive the success of gala, golf, leadership, and signature events by developing scalable strategies, strengthening partnerships, and empowering teams. The position plays a key role in advancing mission-driven initiatives through revenue growth, operational excellence, and exceptional donor engagement. Working closely with regional leaders, volunteers, and cross-functional teams, the role ensures consistent execution and long-term program sustainability. The ideal candidate will bring strong fundraising expertise, strategic leadership capabilities, and a passion for creating meaningful experiences that inspire communities and supporters.

Accountabilities:

The National Director, Distinguished Events will provide enterprise-level leadership for a portfolio of fundraising events, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals and maximizing impact across markets.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for distinguished events, including growth initiatives, market opportunities, and long-term program development.
  • Drive achievement of annual revenue goals of approximately $4 million across major fundraising events, including galas, golf events, leadership gatherings, and other signature programs.
  • Establish event objectives, KPIs, benchmarks, and success metrics while monitoring performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with regional leadership teams to guide event strategy, strengthen execution, and ensure a consistent and engaging participant experience.
  • Support change management efforts in developing markets by helping teams implement national strategies and maintain operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with marketing, communications, and internal teams to create impactful promotional campaigns and leverage digital tools to expand event reach.
  • Provide coaching, training, and strategic guidance to development teams to strengthen fundraising capabilities and team performance.
  • Manage budgets, evaluate financial performance, and ensure responsible allocation of resources.
  • Requirements:

    The ideal candidate will be an experienced fundraising and events leader with a proven ability to build large-scale programs, influence stakeholders, and deliver measurable results in a mission-driven environment.

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience, with 7–10 years of experience in development, nonprofit fundraising, and event management.
    • Demonstrated success in creating and executing large-scale distinguished events and fundraising initiatives.
    • Strong background in strategic planning, budget management, volunteer engagement, and program growth.
    • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with executives, staff members, volunteers, and external partners.
    • Experience coaching teams, developing talent, and fostering inclusive, collaborative work environments.
    • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
    • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with sound professional judgment.
    • Ability to work effectively through others to achieve organizational goals.
    • Willingness to travel up to 25% and occasionally work evenings or weekends for business needs and events.
