Job Description

About Upside:

We created Upside to help communities thrive! Our retail technology uses the sophistication of online retail—profit measurement, attribution, and incrementality—to provide users with more value on their everyday purchases and brick and mortar businesses with new, profitable customers. We’ve helped millions of users earn 2 to 3 times more cash back than any other product, and tens of thousands of brick and mortar businesses earn measurable profit. Billions of dollars in commerce run through the Upside platform every year, and that value goes directly back to our local retailers, the consumers they serve, and towards important sustainability initiatives. Our mission, values, and commitment to inclusivity guide our team of more than 300 people worldwide, and the quality of our culture is reflected in the impact we’ve had on communities nationwide. You’ll join a Team whose experience hails from places such as Google, Uber, Amazon, Instacart, Capital One, and MasterCard with proven startup executives and venture capitalists.

Upside was named #2 on Deloitte's 2021 list of Fastest Growing 500 Tech Companies andĀ  #308 in Inc.’s America’s fastest growing private companies of 2022. Upside’s Series D funding was raised in March 2022 and led by General Catalyst at a $1.5 billion valuation. Other investors include Bessemer Ventures and Formation8.

Meet the Product Team:

The Product team at Upside is composed of results-oriented individuals with a diverse set of experiences, all working diligently to ensure that our product delivers as much value as possible for our merchants and consumers. Whether partnering with Engineering, Design, Marketing, or Sales, the Product team is committed to taking an experiment oriented approach to guarantee that data drives decisions.

About the Job:

Upside’s mission is to be the digital layer that makes all physical commerce more economically efficient, which means embedding the Upside experience anywhere consumers are (whether that’s our own app or a third-party app!). A critical piece of that is powering personalized cash back offers across gas, restaurant, and grocery in our partners’ apps, like Uber, GasBuddy, and Current Bank. We’re looking for a dedicated Product Manager to define and execute on the partner strategy that will help us realize this mission! From deal through implementation and ongoing optimization, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement a partner-facing offers platform that enables our external partners, from the largest gig-economy companies to major payment institutions and mobile mapping companies, to achieve their own strategic goals. This is an exciting opportunity to impact growth in a measurable way by growing our audience from tens of millions to hundreds of millions!

What you’ll do:

  • Own product strategy and roadmap for delivering consumer and merchant value through strategic partnerships and integrations, and ensure alignment with partners by building joint product roadmaps.
  • Manage each stage of the partnerships platform product lifecycle from design to development to testing (functional, security, and performance), deployment, and iterations/release management.
  • Create the business and product requirements for the partnerships platform, including our Partner API, based on stakeholder needs.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Partnerships, Professional Services, and Engineering teams on the business selection framework for new partners.
  • Play an active role throughout the partnership lifecycle, including technical vetting in the pre-deal phase, deal review and signoff, implementation, and ongoing partner success.
  • Work with our Strategic Partnerships and Professional Services teams to establish productive working relationships with partners’ technical teams in order to accelerate successful integration and monitor performance to quickly optimize conversion funnels and overall partner user experience.Ā
  • Work with our Data Science team to conduct data analysis on usage and gather feedback from partners to define partner platform success metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prioritize work to ensure the most important issues or opportunities are addressed and maintain all documentation as changes are made.
  • Develop best practices based on learnings from past partner engagements in order to support future initiatives and product adoption.

What you need:

  • 4+ years of product management and/or engineering experience, preferably in enterprise, B2B integration, and/or API development.
  • BA/BS degree in quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong user empathy, with an ability to transform complex data and customer insights into product vision and a prioritized roadmap.
  • Experience in market/user research, data analysis, or other ways to bring data into the scope to influence and support product decisions.
  • Experience with digital experimentation platforms such as Optimizely, VWO, Apptimize or others as well as an understanding of business intelligence and statistical software (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Looker and Snowflake or similar tools).
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and presentation skills, with proven ability to take initiative and influence internal and external roadmaps.
