Team: Accounting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Accounting Technician based in Canada.

This role is an opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to support fast-growing startups and scaleups by ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality financial information. You will play a key role in managing full-cycle accounting processes, ensuring month-end close excellence, and maintaining clean, reliable financial records that support strategic decision-making. Working in a modern, cloud-based accounting environment, you will collaborate closely with Controllers and CFO-level advisors to deliver insights that drive business performance. The position combines hands-on accounting execution with process improvement and client-facing collaboration. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior team members and contribute to building scalable accounting operations. Accountabilities:

  • Manage full-cycle accounting processes from daily transaction entry through to financial statement preparation.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end close processes, targeting completion by the 5th business day.
  • Maintain and oversee client accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Hubdoc, and Dext.
  • Ensure financial data integrity, accuracy, and compliance across all accounting workflows.
  • Monitor client needs, feedback, and updates to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Review own work critically and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
  • Manage client deliverables, ensuring deadlines and scope requirements are consistently met.
  • Support troubleshooting and provide proactive accounting guidance to clients and internal teams.
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of accounting processes and workflows.
  • Mentor and support Accounting Technicians while contributing to team development and performance.
  • Requirements:

    • 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
    • Working toward the Canadian CPA designation.
    • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial statements and reporting.
    • Experience with cloud accounting tools such as QuickBooks Online and/or Xero.
    • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple client files.
    • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
    • Nice to have:

      • Experience with Canadian tax (GST/HST, PST, etc.).
      • Experience in financial analysis, forecasting, or FP&A activities.
      • Familiarity with data analysis and financial reporting tools.
      • Exposure to automation or process optimization in accounting workflows.
