Job description

Team: Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Data Analyst – Insurance based in Canada.

In this role, you will transform complex insurance-related datasets into clear, actionable insights that directly support strategic business decisions. You will work closely with data leadership and cross-functional teams to analyze trends, improve reporting capabilities, and strengthen data-driven decision-making across the organization. The position requires strong analytical rigor, with a focus on SQL-driven analysis and deep data interpretation rather than engineering or pure visualization work. You will be responsible for understanding business needs, translating them into structured analytical outputs, and delivering high-quality insights that improve operational and commercial outcomes. This is a high-visibility role within an established insurance data ecosystem where your insights will directly influence decision-making.

  • Translate business requirements into clear analytical approaches and deliver actionable findings to support decision-making.
  • Perform deep SQL-based data analysis across multiple sources, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and data integrity.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI or Tableau to support business and leadership needs.
  • Collect, clean, validate, and reconcile data from different systems to ensure high data quality standards.
  • Collaborate closely with business, analytics, and technology teams to support key data initiatives and reporting requirements.
  • Support ongoing data governance efforts, documentation, and ad hoc analytical requests.
  • Identify data gaps and recommend improvements to enhance reporting efficiency and analytical capabilities.
  • Requirements:

    • 8–10 years of experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar data-focused analytical role.
    • Strong expertise in SQL with proven ability to perform complex data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
    • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and data manipulation techniques.
    • Hands-on experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent visualization platforms.
    • Strong understanding of data analysis, data validation, and reporting best practices.
    • Experience working with large datasets in a structured enterprise environment.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly present insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Insurance industry experience is strongly preferred.
    • Familiarity with data modeling concepts, Agile/Scrum environments, and tools such as Python, R, or Databricks is an asset.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive contractor compensation aligned with senior data analyst market rates in Canada.
      • Fully remote opportunity for Canadian-based professionals.
      • Opportunity to work on high-impact insurance data initiatives within an established enterprise environment.
      • Exposure to large-scale datasets and advanced analytics within a data-driven organization.
      • Collaborative work culture with strong cross-functional engagement.
      • Opportunity to strengthen expertise in SQL-driven analytics and insurance domain data systems.
      • Flexible engagement with potential for contract extension based on performance and business needs.
