Our Business Development Team leads our efforts to grow Group Black’s partner collective with a focus on driving scale and relentlessly building the most exciting, culturally relevant properties for the next generation of diverse audiences. The team members are expert relationship builders, constant collaborators, and creative problem solvers, with proven experience working with relevant partners to find success and generate innovative and high-impact results.
The Role:
The Senior Director, Collective Development opportunity is a pivotal role within the Growth and Business Development team. Reporting to our Chief Business Officer, this leadership position is responsible for fostering member development and finding opportunities to deepen the relationship in meaningful ways across the collective. The Senior Director is also a strategic leader that has a deep passion for building programs and leveraging connections. Â
Responsible for proactive outreach and Group Black programming with the collective, the Senior Director, will facilitate creative ideas and planning to improve engagement with Group Black member companies. The role requires a leader that is experienced in delivering partner-focused solutions to meet member company needs, as well as playing a critical role in delivering ongoing value and sustained business growth. Our ideal candidate is an excellent listener who doesn’t shy away from hard conversations.
Your Day-to-Day:
New/Prospective Members
- Engage with Business Development peers to source and collaborate with potential new partners
- Work closely with brand strategy and partner on the initial go-to-market strategy and materials for new members to ensure they are integrated into proposals and offerings (partner one-sheets, general capability offerings, etc.)
Existing Members
- Lead member company relationships and ensure proactive communication with members on future roadmaps, plans, and activities of Group Black that could support the collective
- Build senior and strategic relationships with member companies by understanding their goals, upcoming programming, target audiences, and growth strategies
- Partner with internal colleagues Business Development, PR/Communications, Marketing, and Brand Strategy teams to execute member-focused programs and events to help set the vision and strategy for the long-term growth of the partnerships you manage such as Partner Summits, Founder Councils, etc.Â
- Collaborate with Brand Strategy on go-to-marketing program development with member companies
- Ensure regular cadence of communication and transparency with member companies and key stakeholders
- Liaise with other departments inside of Group Black to effectively leverage the collective across GB to their benefit including appearances, speaking opportunities, etc.
- Lead and conduct member business reviews and feedback sessionsÂ
- Ensure appropriate actions and focus are maintained on member retentionÂ
- Respond to requests and resolve member issues and escalations; ensure members receive prompt responses to inquiries
- Problem solves a variety of situations using creative thinkingÂ
- Project Management, coordinate multiple parties to work towards clear goals and hurdlesÂ

What you bring to the team:Â
- 10+ years experience in a brand, media, or strategic partnerships role
- BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
- Passion for all things culture
- Leadership qualities; ability to work as a leader in a team environment
- Demonstrated experience building relationships, executing influence, and providing phenomenal service
- Growth mindset with proven ability to monetize new opportunities
- Creative out-of-the-box thinker and problem solver
- Strong public-facing presentation skills representing Group Black
- Experience articulating member feedback to internal stakeholders
- Expert knowledge of traditional and emerging media platformsÂ
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally and building consensus among multiple stakeholdersÂ
- Willingness to adapt to change in a growing company
- Ability to Identify cultural trends, industry trends, and audience growth opportunities; providing teams with a point of view on how it affects the way brands connect with people
- Commitment to the mission, vision, and objectives of the organization
At Group Black we believe in leveraging our hiring process as a way to support transparency. The annual base salary band for this opportunity is $175,000-$200,000. Our job offer compensation philosophy, which impacts actual compensation, is based on a number of important factors including, but not limited to, internal and market equity, financial budgets, and the individual’s skills, qualifications, experience, and education. Published annual base salary bands do not include individual variable compensation opportunities, such as annual merit increases, bonus eligibility, commission, or equity incentives.
