Senior Director of Data & Applications

The Mission

We are seeking a Senior Director for our Cloud Data Engineering and Cloud Native Application Development Practices. The right candidate is someone with a broad base of experience leading teams to drive digital innovation including the development of Cloud Data and Cloud Native Application solutions. Our Cloud Data Engineering Practice includes several capabilities, including Data Management (expertise with relational databases, data warehouses and ETL processing), Big Data (expertise with data lakes, large-scale data ingestion and data processing with EMR), Data Visualization (dashboards and reporting on analytics with Quicksight or Tableau) and Machine Learning (model training and tuning, feature stores and MLOps). Our Cloud Native Application practice includes both Cloud Native Application development and Application Modernization. Caylent is also adding support for GenAI solutions at a rapid pace and this leader will work with others across the organization in building that capability. We are looking for someone who is comfortable across this broad range of data capabilities and can help drive our business forward and further shape and define the practice vision.

Your Assignment

Drive the Vision

• Define Caylent’s vision for Data and Analytics and Cloud Native services, including GenAI, Machine Learning, Data Modernization and Cloud Native Applications. Partner with Caylent leadership on development of AI service portfolio.
• Develop our service messaging and partner with sales and marketing leadership to execute the Go-to-Market strategy
• Lead representation of Caylent’s Cloud Data Engineering and Cloud Native Application services and capabilities in the market including with our partners at AWS as well as with strategic clients.
• Assist and participate with pre-sales and sales to ensure customer experience aligns to overall goals and Go-to-Market strategy. Additionally, oversee project coordination and staffing teams across all existing and new customers

Build a Best in Class Data and Analytics Team

• Build Manage, develop, and retain a team of direct (Directors) and indirect (Architects/Engineers/Delivery Managers) reports responsible for service delivery across all customer engagements.
• Drive continued improvement and adherence to delivery best practices, expanding IP to ensure quality and efficiency across clients.
  

Grow the Business

• Lead strategic growth of the business, supporting directors and managers the growth of the organization.
• Manage department operations including budgeting, utilization, rate, and P/L. Ensure the department is operated profitably and take necessary short and long-term actions to optimize ROI while also meeting strategic growth targets.
• Establish and cultivate a solid working relationship with internal and external customers.
• Develop and deliver monthly, quarterly, annual and as-needed executive level reporting and visibility into the performance of the department.
  

Your Qualifications

• Proven track record of leadership in the digital transformation space including vision and thought leadership
• Strong leader with 5+ years management experience of teams of 75 or more
• Experience managing a P&L, driving hiring and balancing growth and profitability
• Proven track record of success building Go-to-Market strategies for digital services
• Enthusiasm for working in a startup environment and the ability to be cross-functional
• You embody and cultivate the Caylent values

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within the AWS Partner ecosystem either as an ISV or Systems Integrator
• Strong experience with Data and Machine learning solutions
• Experience leading global teams

The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $240,000. If you are hired at Caylent, your base salary is determined on factors such as skills, experience, geographic location, and other market conditions. While it's not typical for offers to be made at the top of the range, please keep in mind that the base salary range is only one component of your overall compensation. Additionally, you are eligible for the benefits, bonuses, and incentives as listed above in the job description!
