This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Sr Manager Accounting Operations in the United States.

This senior leadership role oversees the end-to-end performance of core accounting operations, including Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Vendor Administration, within a high-volume, multi-state environment. The position is responsible for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls while driving operational excellence and service quality across teams and stakeholders. Acting as a key partner to Finance, HR, Legal, and business leadership, this role plays a critical part in maintaining financial integrity and enabling scalable business operations. It also leads a large, multi-functional team and is expected to elevate performance through coaching, structure, and accountability. A strong focus is placed on modernization, including leveraging AI and automation to streamline processes and reduce operational risk. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced, transformation-oriented environment where continuous improvement is essential.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of approximately 21 professionals across Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Vendor Administration, fostering a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee payroll operations for thousands of employees across multiple states, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of wages, bonuses, and incentive compensation.
  • Manage high-volume accounts payable operations, ensuring accurate invoice processing, vendor payments, and adherence to financial controls and approval policies.
  • Supervise vendor administration processes, including onboarding, documentation, compliance checks, and system integration across financial platforms.
  • Drive automation and AI-enabled transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance reporting and analytics capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX, internal controls, tax requirements, and audit standards while maintaining accurate documentation and readiness for audits.
  • Partner closely with Finance, HR/Total Rewards, Legal, and other stakeholders to align operational execution with business priorities and financial strategy.
  • Requirements

    The ideal candidate brings deep experience in accounting operations leadership, with a strong track record of managing payroll, AP, and vendor management functions in complex, multi-state environments. They combine technical financial expertise with strong people leadership and a transformation mindset, particularly around automation and process improvement.

    • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting operations, payroll, accounts payable, or related financial functions.
    • 5+ years of leadership experience managing multi-functional or multi-location teams.
    • Strong understanding of payroll and AP processes, internal controls, and financial compliance frameworks (SOX preferred).
    • Proven ability to lead large-scale operational teams and drive performance, efficiency, and service excellence.
    • Experience with ERP systems, payroll platforms, vendor management systems, and financial reporting tools.
    • Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze financial data, build dashboards, and track KPIs.
    • Demonstrated experience (or strong exposure) to AI, automation, or digital transformation in finance operations.
    • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
