System Development Engineer

Location: Remote in the United States

US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED

BlueVoyant is seeking a knowledgeable System Development Engineer experienced in designing and maintaining dispersed data collection systems. The Collector Engineering team is part of BlueVoyant’s Infrastructure Engineering team and is responsible for the platform enabling our 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC) to ingest, monitor, triage, and remediate security threats.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn about and integrate with industry leading security tools and threat intelligence to solve unique challenges that allow our service to scale with our rapidly growing customer base.

What you will do:

  • Work on new designs/solutions, bringing them from concept to in life operations.
  • Relentlessly improve the quality of our operations, monitoring, and tools
  • Product prototype testing including design verification and validation of software, determine if program will perform according to requirements and specifications.
  • Collaborate with fellow engineering and support staff to conduct product testing.
  • Understand overall system requirements to develop and document supporting subsystem requirements and turn them into a software design.
  • Work with multiple teams across the globe to integrate software changes and ensure they are validated appropriately.
  • Lead or coordinate subsystem reviews
  • Ability to understand overall system requirements and translate them into subsystem requirements to drive subsystem design/development.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders including various engineering teams as well as support, implementation, and customer health teams.

General responsibilities:

  • Work with cross-functional teams to proactively improve on existing integration automation/workflows.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Ensure technical issues are quickly resolved and help implement strategies and solutions to reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
  • Work with peers to ensure the end-to-end solution provided by BlueVoyant works seamlessly for our clients.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with Linux system administration required. 
  • Understanding of containerized systems and orchestration a plus.
  • Experience with Azure virtual machines, scaling sets, and virtual networks preferred.
  • Expertise with logging and monitoring using including Elastic, Datadog, and Splunk.
  • Experience with configuration Management tools including AWX/Ansible, Salt, Puppet and Chef.
  • Understanding of networking protocols and network-level troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience working with and designing hybrid (cloud/on premise) solutions. 
  • At least 3+ years of experience designing, tuning, and implementing large-scale, system architectures.
  • US citizenship required
  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field experience.
