UX Design Lead- Marketplace/Creator Ecosystem

We're looking for a UX Design Lead to join our team at Hypixel Studios, which collaborates remotely from around the world. Our members range from industry newcomers to experts with 25+ years of experience. Team members come from a diverse set of backgrounds, but share a common passion for building polished player-focused, community-powered games.

As the UX Design Lead responsible for our Creator Ecosystem, you will have a front seat at shaping the future of what it means to build an economy powered by our community. You will be responsible for building and shipping products that help people express their individuality, deepen our community’s ability to create and share their creations and establish systems that govern all aspects of our Creator Ecosystem from a 1st to 3rd party perspective.

Who you are:

• You are a product designer who not only creates beautiful interfaces, but thinks through the human factor of how players interact with games
• You have an exceptional eye for aesthetic and can help maintain, and develop, UI components and patterns
• You’re organized, and demonstrate this through impeccable attention to detail not only in your work but, within the way your work is arranged
• You’re an excellent communicator and are passionate about working across disciplines to advocate for your craft
• You’re player focused; you have a track record of creating interfaces that focus on clarity and usability, as well as visual design

Some of your role:

• You'll research, strategize and lead design for our marketplace and creator program alongside partners in product and engineering
• Be a champion of Creator Economy across teams and stakeholders; partnering with Product Owners, Insights, Game Design, etc.
• Execute on journey maps, system maps, wireframes, prototypes, reusable components, interaction patterns and rigorous design specs
• Expand our design system by creating scalable, flexible, and contextually-aware UX systems to address the needs of the marketplace and work with other UX/UI stakeholders to maintain consistency
• Understand, communicate and advocate for the design system and associated methodologies across multiple teams and disciplines

Essential Traits:

• You can balance the needs of Creators and our Players, constantly striving to deliver solutions that serve both, while using a combination of data and research to inform and iterate on decisions
• An ability to build partnerships across multiple stakeholders and disciplines and drive alignment between them. 
• Exceptional skills in UI implementation, including a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, typography, layout, and interactivity
• Proven ability to identify and solve complex technical challenges related to UI elements, interactions, and performance optimization
• A personal passion for games and staying on top of the latest trends in the industry

Bonus Traits:

• Familiarity with Atomic Design Methodology, Design Systems
• Strong collaborator with an ability to contribute to product design, project management and technical ideas
• Experience directing the work of a cross disciplinary team, and/or managing other UX/UI Designers. 
• Experience working with Figma (or similar prototyping tools) 
• A personal passion for open world, builder, or survival games
