Senior Designer, Apparel

Tecovas is the first direct-to-consumer western brand, founded with the simple goal of making the world’s best western boots, apparel and leather goods - and selling them at a fair price. We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike. 

Tecovas is looking for a Senior Designer, Apparel to work across all apparel categories to deliver new products and ensure designs are aligned with the brand’s product pillars from concept to completion. Reporting directly to the Head of Product, you will lead the company’s design direction through innovation, collaboration, and your keen eye for concept, fit, and color.

This position is based out of Austin, TX but will have the ability to work from home and in-office.

What you’ll do:

• Influence and deliver premium products across all categories of Men’s & Women’s apparel:  knits, wovens, outerwear, denim, dresses.  
• Lead and manage all aspects of design in order to execute deliverables for seasonal milestone meetings and production deadlines.
• Partner with Apparel Merchant to develop a strong consumer-oriented point of view and drive design that meets functional, brand and company goals.
• Collaborate with the footwear & accessory design teams on color stories, trends and design direction.  Responsible for apparel seasonal color palette creation.
• Assist with the management of cross-functional communication between product development, technical design, and external vendors
• Help with the preparation of materials and presentation of concepts and work for seasonal/milestone meetings
• Create digital CADs and edit/modify graphic designs in Adobe Illustrator
• Research concepts, create sketches and prototypes throughout the entirety of the development process
• Assist with building and maintaining bill of materials by style with accuracy and detail
• Attend fittings with the cross-functional team and provide design feedback.

Experience we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion, Design or related area - or equivalent experience or training
• 6-8+ years of experience in Apparel Design, preferably in outdoor, western and/or fashion categories
• Extremely solid core design skills with an understanding of fashion, style, and market trends
• Strong ability to concept, sketch, and execute
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, and Microsoft Excel
• Experience with technical fabrications and performance products built for active lifestyle and work
• Experience with Textile Design is a plus, but not required
